Should I Get PUB/PLB?

Ok I am going to preorder the new DVD but I want to know what else I should get to save on shipping from this educated community.
I have C&W/IMAX2, BC/ME, Timesaver and SS/PP.
My question is should I also get PUB/PLB. I just recently recieved SS/PP and I want to know will I add a whole lot by PUB/PLB. Everybody always talks about their great results with the pyramids, but is the strength training mixed with the endurance good enough with SS/PP.
Should I also order any of the other cardio as well?
My goal is just general overall health and balance and of course lose those last 5 #. I guess I need to decide by the Feb 29 when the presale may end.
thanks everyone!

Hi,

Personally, I LOVE PUB/PLB - they are tough! I feel like it is far different from Cathe's other videos. It is a total pyramid style (hence the name!?) where you start with a lighter weight with higher reps, then go to the next level of weights with a few less reps, then the heaviest weight with the fewest reps, back to medium, them finally, the lightest again. (I hope that makes sense) For almost every body part she does it that way (except for a few supersets). I love this workout. I do them both on the weekends sometimes. I think they are a great addition to the collection.

A big plus for me in PUB is that you use all dumbbells. there isn't alot of equipment scrambling. in PLB, the only 'scrambling' is to change the barbell weight and I use dumbbells for some when it suits me. The other thing I like a lot is that you can concentrate really well on the few excersizes that you do. Let me also add that the ball work is really great, especially the floor work in PLB.

I reread your question and I guess I really didn't answer it. I haven't done ss/pp enough to compare.:-(

You may want one more cardio dvd so you don't get burnt out on the ones you have.

Course it all depends how much cash you have, but the Pyramids are excellent. They help bust through plateaus. They are fast paced, time flies by, there are some exercises in them that are not on previous Cathe weights' vids.

Looking at your collection, I can't believe you don't have Circuit Max!!!!!!!!!! It comes on a DVD with Cardio Kicks. Do you not like either of these? Circuit max is a mainstay of my collection, cardio endurance training, a great mix, good music, and the last step sections rock especially.

You might consider the CTX series also. It is my favourite of all Cathe's series work to date. The weight training is solid and stands alone, especially the classic Leaner Legs, and the DVD's offer a whole range of cardio routines from classic stepping, stepping with intervals, kickbox, a hi-lo/step/kickbox medley and a step circuit that is quite a challenge. Any of these workouts can be done as is (i.e. cardio then the body part to be weight trained for the day) or you can mix and match between different cardio sections and believe me, two of these back to back is enough cardio for one day! Or you can do all the weight training in one day, or train two body parts per day, etc, etc.

I reckon you could lose those last 5 pounds with this series.

I couldn't be without my CTX. Love it. If I had enough dough to get all the stuff again on DVD, I would start with the Slow & Heavy series and the CTX.

Watch some video clips and take a look!

In fact since all the weight training you currenty have is of the endurance type, you might consider getting the Slow & Heavy series ya know. To really heavy up, with low reps, slow tempo and pump up those muscles. I have never been stronger as when using this series. Ectos swear by it. And adding muscle to your frame could be all you need to lose those last 5 pounds. So, maybe think about getting this series before the pyramids in fact. Hmmmmm, there's an idea........

Some ideas to think about.....

The pyramid workouts are absolutely excellent and worth purchasing, especially on DVD. With DVD you can Pyramid up or down only when you are pressed for time and still get a great workout. These strength workouts are one of my favorites. Also someone mentioned CTX which is a wonderful series of shorter cardio segments with one body part per day. But if you are looking for gains in strength go for the pyramids.

PUB and PLB are two workouts I wouldn't be without! Because I have so many workout videos and DVD's, I don't necessarily do them "often," but I tend to use them more often than many other tapes. And when I return to either of the workouts (or the premixes) after not doing them for a while, I'm always reminded what a great set of workouts they are. Pyramid Lower body is my favorite Cathe lower body workout by far (just the right number of exercises, and just the right exercises!). PUB and S&H are pretty much tied for "favorie upper body workout."

The premixes on this DVD are also worth checking out. I've tried the fullbody workout and both PUB/PLB pyramid up only.

Hi Clare,
Thanks for the input. I am new to Cathe over the last few months so I have slowly added to my collection so that is why I was thinking about adding the pyramids to round out the insenity series ( except for terminator). But I do want to add more cardio, but was looking at the newer DVDs due to added bonus of premixes, etc. Are the circuit max/CK DVD and CTX DVD chaptered? I don't think I have the mental focus right now for S&H ( I am going to watch it on Fit TV though to get a better idea). I probably could only order one of the cardio, though- which would you choose? on circuit max, can you do the step without the weights?

Looking at the workouts you have, I can see you don't have a strength workout yet, and the Pyramids definitely fit the bill.:)

Hi!

Circuit Max is TERRIBLY chaptered! Even before getting spoiled by Cathe's wonderful newer stuff, I was very disappointed in the chaptering on CMax. The circuit work is not chaptered seperately from the step, and you can't just skip through it, unless you fastforward, which is a pain. It's like having it on VHS (gasp! ;-) )
I would not recommend this, since you already have plenty of cardio workouts, and since the weight work on Circuit Max isn't really going to add much to your collection.

I would definitely get the Pyramids. These workouts are MUCH tougher than SS and PP, and with the premixes, you've got lots of cool options. Great ab work, too!

BTW, the CTX series is chaptered pretty well, and is a great series to have. But I'd go for the Pyramids right now. You've got lots of cardio already, and the weight work is a bit more thorough on the pyramids in comparison to CTX.

:)
