Shoes for carpeting

I have just started exercising again and need a new pair of shoes for my Cathe cardio DVD's. I have to work out on carpet and am wondering if I should get crosstrainers or aerobic shoes. I have a short foot that is narrow in the heel and wide at the ball of the foot, so I think that Ryka's will give me a good fit. I can find Ryka crosstrainers to try on and the fit feels pretty good, but can't find their aerobic shoes to try on so I don't know the difference in the soles. I'm hoping you can give me some guidance.

Thanks in advance.

Because I do all the different types of Cathe workouts - aerobic step. hi/lo, strength, kickbox, I wear cross trainers. I have had good luck with New Balance, and have even found a pair of Rykas that feel OK on my wide foot (with a thin sock and my own orthopedic inserts).

I think really the difference in the shoes is the side-to-side support you get in a cross trainer. I'm not sure what the differenc ein the soles are.

My living room, where I work out, has a medium length carpet, the kind that comes "standard" with townhouses around here. I have not had a problem with moving around, although I am careful to step gingerly and lightly!

I am certainly no expert, but I hope that helps!
