Shoe Recommendations

Hi everyone, I am interested in shoe recommendations. I am having trouble with sore achilles tendons. Not terrible, but I feel them. I suspect it's related to the little big of high impact that Cathe sprinkles into everything. I talked (briefly) to a physical therapist after she gave a talk about it and she recommended a "cushion" shoe rather than one that corrects for overpronation (I don't have that) but couldn't say exactly which brand/model. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks...
Meredith

I don't have a brand to recommend for 'cushion' but all around, i'd recommend Ryka shoes; they offer a lot of support and were made for women, by women! can't go wrong there!

I also recommend Rykas. Until I started wearing them I had problems with my knees and shin splints. The are also more reasaonably priced. Before I go buy a pair I go to their website, www.ryka.com, and read the descriptions on each shoe and I buy the ones that have maximum cushioning.

also to let you know that I got an email from Todd at Ryka, from April 1st you can order dorect from their web site and they will also do international delivery.

Hi Meredith: It has been my experience that certain feet work with certain brands...I can't wear Rykas for some reason (I think it's because I have a really wiiiide foot).
For the achilled deal, any aerobic shoe is probably good. BUT if you add inserts, it's even better! I always buy aerobic shock gel inserts for my shoes. For you, I would avoid cross trainers. They don't have as much cushion as an aerobic model.
Good luck.

I used to have really bad achilles tendon pain too, mostly when I first woke up in the morning. I found some styles of Avia shoes that are cut lower in the achilles tendon area and I haven't had a problem since.

That's interesting. The last two pairs I bought were Avia. They were highly recommended by the very helpful sales clerk at an Athlete's Foot (I think) store. I try to replace my indoor workout shoes twice a year. That helps a lot too. Sometimes I hate putting out the money but my feet usually do feel a big difference. I find when my knees start to hurt, it's time to replace the shoes. Good luck!
