Hello, Sportsfans - I wanted to get your bead on this:
I normally buy all of my athletic shoes from Ryka (in part because I get a good instructor discount), but I've encountered something troubling at least twice now: I think when I've ordered their studio "aerobics" shoes (at first the Rhythm II's, then their Enlight {or Engage, can't remember which}) they have sent me shoes that were used and returned.
A couple three reasons for this:
The most recent pairs I got had far less impact absorption
/ "bouncy" feel in the soles when I first used them for my Cathe mish-moshes, AND there was a great deal more room in the toe-box, something that did not happen with the previous pairs of the exact same model. AND, the sweat absorption was far less that earlier pairs on their maiden voyages through Mish-Mosh Land. I do know that when they discontinued the Rhythm II's (which I'm still mourning) and replaced them with the Engage/Enlights, they widened the toebox so much that I had to go down a full shoe size and open up the laces more.
Also, when I first used whatever replaced the Rhythms and found out there was too much width in the toebox I called Ryka, and they told me I could return them and they would resell them.
Okay then. I'm feeling suspiciously gypped here.
Has anyone else had that suspicion, or reality, with Ryka or other athletic shoe retailers either brick-and-mortar or online?
Any input welcome.
(I will be putting this same inquiry on Turnstep to get input from GFI's.)
