Shelley's semi-annual fashion help request

As I'm sure you're all aware, I'm completely clueless when it comes to clothes. So, I need some new things for work for spring (if it should ever decide to arrive). What are you excited about this spring?

Thanks for any help you can give this poor fashion-challenged person. I'd live in comfy yoga pants and hoodies if I could, but alas, work frowns on that.

Well, for spring and summer, I really like skirts and dresses. I'm not really the girly-girly type, but I just love throwing one of those jersey knit dresses over my head (zippers??? forget about it) and putting on a pair of sandlals or flats, and being done with it. No coordinating or crap like that. As for skirts, same thing. Cute cotton or jersey knee-length skirt with a tee and some comfy shoes...and I'm ready to go. I keep a couple of neutral sweaters or shrugs or even my nifty jean jacket around for when my office is friggin' freezing in the middle of summer.

That's my not-so-expert fashion advice. And, yes, I realize that I'll never be the host of "What Not to Wear," but it's what I like. The less I have to think about it, the better.

That sounds great! Except I have no idea what you're talking about:p Any chance of some kind of pictures? I don't know what a jersey dress is. See? Clueless.:p

How about a Hawaiian shirt (in pastel colors of course), a grass skirt, and those sneakers with wheels on the bottom. Cha-cha-cha!

It's just a very unwrinkable (is that a word?) knit that you can bunch up in your suitcase or pick up out of your dirty clothes and scrape off the pasta sauce you dribbled the night before and it looks fine. (not that I'd EVER do such a thing!}( ) And, when you do have the time to wash it, you can just throw it in the washing machine or wash it in the sink. (I lived in the two that I stuffed in my suitcase on our trip to Italy last year.)

Not so sure about the style, but here's a link to one I found when I googled. http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2925723...dress&cm_ite=velvet_torch_v-neck_dress:180552

The material is kind of like tee shirt material only silkier...it moves when you walk. I'm sorry, I have no idea how to describe this stuff.

Actually, Emily and I are coming up with a new line of cat-fur covered duds for the season.

I think I saw some of those jersey tee shirt type dresses in the newest Title Nine catalog. A black one with a big wad of white cat fur on the butt would be you, Shelley.

Hi Shelley

I shop at Reitman's and Ricki's (because they are the only stores unless I want to drive for four hours to Kelowna). I am not sure where you work, but they both have good websites with ideas for different looks for work.

Hope this helps.

Oooh, thanks Corrie. I like the stuff on the Ricki's site. I'll have to find one around here.

And Robin - can I have mine with dog fur?

Beavs - I've already done the grass skirt and heelies to death. Really;)

My daughter just informed me that she wants a pair. First she said she didn't think she was big enough for them, but I told her I've seen kids younger than her with them. WTH, I'll get her a pair for her birthday. THey look fun.

But Shelly....I just look at what they're showing in the stores and decide what I like. If it looks good on me, that's what I get. Except mini skirts. I might look good in it, but I'm too old!

I do a lot of Banana Republic. They have petites now and they're nicer than The Gap.

Thanks Donna. Sophie really wants a pair too. They're bloody expensive though (the real Heelies are anyway), so maybe they'll be a graduation from Grade 4 present or something.

Also try Ann Taylor's Loft. Great work clothes and they fit great. On me at least! Oh and check out Issac Mizrahi's spring stuff at Target. He has some really nice clothes and they are made well.
My DS wants heelies too!

LD - we don't have either of those stores here. Believe me, I WISH we had Target in Canada. I sometimes go to the Ann Taylor Loft website to check out their outfits to get ideas. None of it is making me go whoo hoo at the moment though. I do like the wide leg pants that are out this year.
