shampoo & conditioner for color treated hair

I got my hair colored today for the first time in a while. The stylist told me to use salon products for color treated hair. She indicated that the color safe shampoos and conditioners at the supermarket would not protect the color as well as salon products. In the past I have used these higher end products, but do not feel they are now in my budget. What experiences have any of you had? Any particular brands worked? Thanks! (P.S. My hair was dyed a brown shade to enhance my natural color.)

pantene has a good line and i have also tried that new sunsilk. i do use the Bumble line from my salon and i do love that the most. they have a gentle shampoo and conditioner for processed hair. it is more expensive but it does last. you don't need a lot.

I use Pureology, which all of their line is for color treated hair.. I have had many people ask how I can keep my color so true between salon visits.. the only thing that lets me know it is time to go back is that horrible 1/2" of gray along my part line! I have highlights too and they don;t get brassy etc

p.s it is expensive in salons but you can get good deals on Ebay!

I also use Pureology and have noticed a difference since exclusively using this vs. Back to Basics - my hair, except out growth, has kept the nice highlights as if i just came out of the salon. It's expensive, but very concentrated, too so it does last.

I've tried the Matrix products (didn't care for). I'm happy with Redken's Color Extend line. It does seem to seal in the color.

Kerastase-I am sure I spelled it wrong, pricey but so was your hair color right?

It is a pretty good line, I think the products in the pink containers are for color treated hair.

I like Pantene's line for darker blondes. Seems to work for me

hey there,
i also tell my clients to use salon products to maintain their color. i truly do believe they work better and are better for your hair. that being said, if it's not in your budget, it's not in your budget! from what you've said, the color is really just enhancing your natural, so i would think that until you feel you can splurge on something else, don't sweat going with the john frieda brilliant brunette line from the drugstore. it may not help as much as the others, but it won't hurt, and it will be more wallet friendly

I got my hair colored New Year's Eve -- dark brunette and I bought Panteen Pro-V for brunettes or whatever and it works fabulous!!! 6 months later my hair is still looking great (and the roots even seem to blend with the rest). It's like 5 bucks each for the Shampoo and conditioner.
