Separated Pelvic

I suffered a separated pelvic while delivering my first child. After the delivery I kept telling the dr. something was wrong but she insisted it was the "trauma" of delivering. (I delviered my son "face first".) Finally, on the third day of hospitalization she agreed on xrays and lo n' behold - there was the separation. This experience has been a major factor in my decision of not wanting anymore children which my husband does not agree with, but is learning to accept very slowly. Well, here I am 3 years and 2 positive EPTs later. I suspect I must be at least 7 weeks into my pregnancy and I am fearful as ever of suffering another separation. I try to convince myself that the chances of that happening again are slim but I can't help going through some anxiety at times. I know my best chance is to strengthen the muscles around my pelvic but don't know where to start. Help please. First, what are my chances of this happening again?, and how do I prepare my body for this delivery? Thank you.

Hi Merie,

I believe that it would be in your best interest to address your concerns with a medical professional, such as an orthopedist or a physical therapist who specializes in OB / GYN related problems. I believe that you experienced a separated pubic symphysis with your last delivery, but I am not a doctor. Let us know what you find out. Good luck with your pregnancy.
