I'm in the market for a new stability ball, but i want to make sure i get a good one, and the right size. i teach childbirth classes, and have been using my birth ball for my workouts for the past 2 years. it has developed a leak and i need a new one. i also think i need a bigger one. i'm 5'4" tall - what do you guys think?

Based on your height, you could probably do with a 55cm stability ball. That's technically the correct size for your height. Although some people prefer to go either up or down a size based on personal preference. I'm 5'7" tall and use a 65 cm one.

As far as which stability balls are good, the most important feature to look for in a ball is that it is burst resistant. That way, should you develop a puncture, the ball will simply deflate vs. exploding. VERY important feature!!!

You might want to check out your local sporting goods stores or www.fwonline.com or www.fitness1st.com to look at different balls. I also know that some balls come with a bit of sand already in them so that they don't roll away when you get off them. A friend of mine has one like that and it is quite handy.

I got mine from Gaiam (BTW I'm 5'3" & went with the recommended small sized ball, & it was too small, I ended up replacing it w/the medium sized, which I believe is the 55 cm).

Anyway, it's definitely high quality & I'd recommend it.

Hi! I don't mean to hijack the topic, but does anyone know what size the ball is that comes with core secrets?? This is the ball I've been using, bought it right before I found Cathe.

Also, if anyone has used it, how does it compare to other balls? I've often wondered if it's to "soft". The ball used by Cathe seems much firmer that mine and I wonder if it makes doing certain exercises oh I hate to use this word "easier".

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

I have the Core Secrets ball. It's 65 cm. and quite soft compared to others. I have a Dura Ball Pro that is very hard, and used to have another kind that is in between the Dura Ball and the CS ball.

Some moves are definitely easier on the CS ball, because of the softness. Pikes are quite a bit more difficult on the Dura Ball.

I use both for different things and depending on how I feel.

Thank you for replying. I just started being able to do pikes with the core secrets ball :) , so I guess I will keep it for awhile before trying a new one.
