Sedentary Job

Hey there -
I was just SITTING here thinking. Thinking that I've been SITTING all day! SITTING all WEEK! I'm a programmer by profession so I'm behind a computer the entire day. I used to go to the gym during lunch, but then I discovered Cathe and now work through lunch so I can get home early and do videos (which I'm noticing a lot more progress from then my ordinary, run-of-the-mill, i've-been-doing-for-years gym workout). I guess without the lunch break I'm realizing how incredible immobile I am all day. Granted I work out hard when I get home, but here I am complaining about those last few pounds... gee, maybe if I moved around the other 80% of the day I'd get over that hump!
Does any of you extremely motivating ladies have a job that requires you to be behind a desk all day? Any tips for not feeling like a pudge?

I too am sitting here at work at my desk....I workout early in the morning for energy, but I have to say that sitting all day isn't doing much for my rear. People suggest doing butt crunches & such while at your desk or at the printer, etc, but who really does that? I don't really think about it, I guess. I'm with you, does anyone else have any suggestions?

This may sound funny, but try just tapping your foot for a while, and then the other. Just little moves like that add up to extra burned calories. Or, during your lunch breaks, instead of going ot the gym go for a walk. Even just a 20 min walk would help.
I sit at a desk too, but during my slow time, being that I work out of my home, I do laundry, clean, take the dog and my son to the park and throw the stick for the dog. So, I am not in the same possition as you two. But I can emagine it would be tough.
I know that A Jock has some things that she does. Maybe she'll chime in here and give you two some good pointers as well.

Thanks - my main thing is that I went from living in the city, 10 minutes away from work, where I could go to the gym during lunch or go for walks etc., to buying a house in the suburbs that gives me an 1 1/2 hr. commute! I really like to squeeze in Cathe before having to cook dinner and hit all the household stuff - so to compensate I cut my lunches so I can leave early to get home before the soon-to-be DH so I can get the workout in. So I can't justify both leaving early and disappearing for the time it would take to get a walk in that would make me feel better about myself.

I love the idea of working from home - my company mentioned it may be a possible solution if/when I decide to have kids! Great extra motivation there, huh!?! Hee hee - have to make it through our October wedding first, I guess ;)
