Secrets of an American Teen & Make It or Break It

I just wanted to comment on these shows. I use to really like "Secrets of an American Teenager" but this season I cannot believe how stupid it is. Every scene and every episode is about sex. And their dialogue is so fake it seems like they are all reading from cue cards. WTH??? Even Molly Ringwald talks like a robot on this show. She looks great this year, by the way!

Any thoughts? It use to be a show I looked forward to seeing, now I find myself sitting through it and rolling my eyes.

Now "Make It or Break It" is a different story. I love this show! I think the acting is superb and the storyline makes me want to keep watching. Love it. And I love gymnastics so that makes it even better for me.

I'm mad at Lauren, though. She just gets under my skin sometimes. And aren't these girls all so beautiful? All of them have flawless skin. Makes me so mad! LOL!!

Debbie - My DH had his last MBA class on Monday nights, so I ended up watching both of these shows the entire session. I totally agree with you on the Secret Life. It is nothing but SEX SEX SEX. And every once in a while, they throw in a little "consequences" story line, but mostly it's just a teenage soap opera. It doesn't seem like these kids have much else going on in their lives aside from shacking up. I think it's kind of a disservice to teens to show them in this much of a one dimensional light. I'm not being a prude about the sex thing either, I just don't agree that that is all teenagers are about. I agree the other show is better. And you are so right about Molly. It's like she's reading from a cue card or something.

I thought the same thing, Liann. It's suppose to be this teenage show to teach young teens about abstinence, yet all they talk about is sex and masturbating. That was ridiculous, by the way. Hearing Grace tell her mom she masturbated just took the cake for me. Who would tell their mom about this? I'm very close to my mom and I would never dream of telling her anything like that.

To me its very unrealistic how these kids are acting. They are so consumed over sex and I know I wasn't like that when I was teen. I know times have changed, but come on.

I'm actually surprised the show is still on.

Oh geez.....I clicked on this thread because although I don't watch Secret Life, my 17-year old daughter does. I watched the first season on and off with her and thought it was fine. Now to find out that it has sunk to this level, I am not happy.

And isn't is on the "Family" network? WTH?

Debbie, I watch The Secret Life, but never really paid much attention to how much they talk about sex. But now that you mention it, they do talk about it A LOT. I don't remember the show being focused so much on sex last season.

It does annoy me that when the actors are talking to each other, they're always asking/answering questions with a question. I hope that made sense. I find that REALLY annoying. Not sure why.

Yes it is on the family network and it surprises me that sex is the entire topic of this show anymore. I really do think they are trying to teach kids to be responsible about sex but its just ridiculous, it's the only thing that is talked about. Even the parents are harping on each other about sex. I just think it's really unrealistic. Normal families just don't talk this openly about sex. Maybe some do, but I'm betting the majority doesn't.

Yep Jennie, I know exactly what you're talking about with the question answering a question. It's annoying. I'm almost to the point where I can't watch the show anymore. I use to love it, now it just annoys me.
