SATURDAY FIT FOR TURKEY DAY

Hi ladies. This morning i decided to get up and walk on the treadmill for 45 minutes at 3.8mph and 12% incline. It was a great workout. I had a huge cheat day on thursday so i'm trying to sweat out my water weight! I really didn't want to workout this morning but i told myself just go for 10min and once 10 min came, i was into the workout and i finished strong.

Good morning, ladies!!! I'll be joining you all in this check in. I missed it yesterday!

You guys have anything exciting of fun planned for the weekend????

My younger DS' BDay was yesterday (he turned 8) and we're having friends and family for cake after the town's Halloween parade this afternoon. I'll NOT be eating any cake, since I had too much other junk earlier this week.

AS for my workout for today...DONE! I was up VERY early today...4am! I just couldn't get back to sleep, so I got out of bed and did some PC work till 7am and then I did my workout. I did LIC cardio premix. LOVE that workout. I'm planning either PUB or PLB tomorrow morning!

I look forward to getting to know you guys!

Gayle

me too!

I have been on a week long business trip and just returned last night (from which I gained 3 lbs this week), so was catching up on the forums and threads and read one from Travisli and her struggle, which was echoed by others. I have to count myself among this group as well... I would love to join this check in ;)

I have been having some success at managing 4-5 Cathe workouts each week for the past several months, with the exception of this past week... but my eating is still out of control. I suppose my goal was to tackle small portions of my overall fitness plan at a time so that I would not be overwhelmed trying to make a major life change as I have a tendency to get discouraged and quit when it does not go as planned or as quickly as desired (patience is NOT my middle name). Weight loss for me is a true struggle since turning 40 and I have pretty much been so far off track for the past 5 years or so that it is even more difficult to get back on track...

I'm back to workin out today... not sure which one, but will definately get it in today and tomorrow...

~ Holidays really are the most difficult for me (and lots of others as well) because the traditional foods (meat and potatos with all the fixins) is what I grew up with. Salad, fruits and veggies were not part of my daily intake, so consequently I have an unhealthy relationship with such foods... most come from a simple dislike for most veggies, others come from sheer lack of discipline. Even if we manage to get them into the shopping cart and back home, there is a 50/50 chance that they will get eaten... but chances are about 99% that anything pasta, bread, salt infused, butter (ok, margarine) saturated, starchy veggie, or sugar will not last in my cupboards (meaning I eat them first and without consideration of portion size or hint of moderation!)... and it is quite possible that the sugar should have been mentioned first on the list... UGH!

anyway, I would love to join you in your T-day check in's with the hope that there is strength in numbers!

hope you all have a great weekend! I'll try to come up with a quote or something inspirational as well... tough at the moment though

Good mornin,

Having my breakfast and a cup of Joe, and in a couple of hours will exercise. Picking a full body workout this morning. Looks like The Firm vol. 1. for myself and my hubby.

I had 1/2 bowl of shredded wheat with some soymilk. I plan on eating healthy today, all day long.

Eriniski, thanks for starting this thread, it was a great idea!:D

Kariev, That was a great treadmill workout. I sometimes don't want to workout too, and you are right, in about 10 min. I keep going and finish. It's a great feeling isn't it?:D

Gayle, 4:00? My husband gets up that early too, I just don't know how you do it. I'm a night owl myself and get up around 8 am. Love your workouts by the way. We will be doing Cathe's workouts very soon, just trying to get stronger first so we can at least do half of them.

Dani, I have the same problem as you. The exercises are great, but the eating I also have a problem with. I'm 57 and struggle also. I understand where you are coming from. ;)

I think this thread is great, and even though I didn't start out the thread I just want to welcome everyone here.

I usually don't post during the weekends, but in this case It Is A MUST for me. Got to keep the eating and exercising on track every single day. Glad I'm not alone.

Take care everyone,

Janie

sorta off the subject...

Janie... how are you feeling? I haven't seen any updates so just hope that your feeling better... :)

Hello I'm back I taught my class and did a couple mile run hoping to stretch a little more in a bit. Quote: You can't deny laughter; when it comes, it plops down in your favorite chair and stays as long as it wants

This weekend I am going to grab a coffee with a couple of my friends later and tom going to see cirque sol e (sp?) with anthony. Should be fun (I took monday off so I can completely enjoy it without worrying about having to go to work). I found yummy potatoe pancakes in the organic aisle last night and had that for lunch (should have been for breakfast but yum!)

Gayle: I can't believe that you have been up so long!! You must be excited for the party :) Although you may need an espresso later to keep up with everyone else but kudos for getting all that done including the workout!

Janie: What is your secret to getting your husband to workout with you? I want to get him moving more and not just on his feet all day. :)

Kariev: Since everyone mentions doing that I will def use you as my motivation the next time I don't want too and will try that method of at least 10 minutes :) and that sounds like a fun workout at an incline your glutes will prob be feeling great after!

DBElden: Welcome home. It's all water, I'm sure and in a couple of days will be gone and for all of us by thanksgiving will be feeling fitter and healthier :). That's awesome about 4-5 cathe wo's I feel like hers are the most challenging but now been having trouble doing them since I am too tired for the intensity at night but can't get up early enough anymore in the am but enough with the excuses right. Holidays are difficult I think for everyone but maybe all of us together can give some tips and maybe it could work for the other too!

Hello T-day-ers!

I'll be joining Team T-day, too.

Kariev- I'm proud of you for motivating yourself out of bed to workout already today. That is a trick to put in my back pocket when I am feeling non-commital. (Like now, for instance).

Gayle- Well done for the dark-thirty workout. I didn't work out today, because I tell myself I am being courteous and not waking DH up on Saturdays, but even I can see through myself . I have to workout early early in the morning, when the part of me that refuses to sweat is too sleepy to resist, if that makes sense. What made you pick "banslug" for a screen name?

Dani- That could have been me writing your post. I just got back from a Greek festival, and ate a baklava sundae, and had two iced Greek coffees (sugar, sugar, and more sugar). I really struggle with mindful eating, and that's what I need to work on the most, because no matter how much I exercise, my weight does not budge an ounce when I don't pay attention to my diet. I bought a little pink notebook today, and I started journaling what I put in my mouth. I can commit to writing it down for ten minutes... :D

Janiejoy- I've noticed in your posts that your signature pictures are absolutely gorgeous. This will sound a bit corny, but they make me feel that magic really does exist. Here's for keeping the eating and the exercising on track every single day.

Eriniski- Thanks for starting this thread. It is nice to have a clear goal/endpoint of Thanksgiving, because to me it is more comforting to wrap my mind around 40 days than a lifestyle change. This will be the warm-up for that. Well done for running 2 miles. Have any of you tried using cardio coach workouts? I just started using these mp3 downloads for running, and have found that I push myself much harder.

Welcome Sugarbean, Oh, I think life itself is magic. Thank you for my little meez compliment. In fact love the positive compliments you gave everyone. I don't always stay on track when it comes to eating, but I'm hoping this forum will help me.

eriniski, love the laughter quote.:D My Joey happens to know how important it is to have an exercise schedule, and eating in moderation. He is 70 years old and that is what is keeping him going. Maybe, just maybe a little help from me since I prepare our dinners. Good for you for running a couple of miles. My turn tomorrow for a cardio.

Here is my quote for the day:

Good morning ladies. No workout this morning as it is my rest day. I have to brave going to my first football game (miami dolphins) and stay on track with my diet. Now i wish i would have saved my weekly cheat for today, oh well. I will eat a nice lunch before we go and try and sneak in some nuts. hope you ladies have a nice day!

just letting you all know i made it. i made a nice salad with grilled chicken as my tailgate meal and i snuck in a slim fast protein bar to have at half time. i had no desire to eat the junk food and i felt full and satisfied!
