I just got back from my doctor's appointment and was wondering how your pregnancy is going so far? What kinds of symptoms are you experiencing? Your workouts have been and are still amazing and you have been a true inspiration to me.

Take care,

Hi Kristi!

Funny - I just got back from my prenatal appointment too! Gosh, this pregnancy is going along so well I can't believe it. I haven't gained a pound in the last three weeks, and the baby is very low in my pelvis. I can't say that I'm overly uncomfortable, although rolling over in bed at night has become challenging! And I have to pee twice a night now, instead of just once. I always need to sit down for a minute after climbing the stairs, which befuddles me, given that I can still exercise at a decent level. I get heartburn periodically, but not so bad as to require taking meds. I'm not swollen or bloated, there are no new stretch marks, and as long as I get some kind of activity in every day, I don't have much hip or back pain. I get mild ligament pain when I start my workouts, but it usually goes away as I get warmed up. I think I get BH contractions every now and again, usually when I'm walking. If I can manage to get 9-10 hours of sleep at night, then I usually have good energy the next day.

Everything I've just said is the complete opposite of my first pregnancy. I was so uncomfortable, large, and bloated with my first pregnancy at this point, that I can't even believe it's the same process going on. I gave up exercising in the first trimester with that pregnancy, and I think that must be what has made such a difference this time. Thank you so much for your words of support and encouragement, Kristi! I truly did not believe that I would still be doing the workouts I'm doing, at this point. Every person's body experiences pregnancy differently, and I think I got lucky this time around. I'm seriously sitting here in my 38th week of pregnancy thinking that I would like to have a third child within the next 18-24 months. That's surely a sign of insanity??

How are you doing? I know you've had such problems with ligament pain; is it doing better? How are you feeling about the fact that you will be pregnant for only 8 more days - at the most?? Have you had any signs of impending labour? After losing that small bit of mucous plug and dilating a bit a week and a half ago, I haven't felt much else. I do hope that Baby stays in until at least Labour Day Monday, and then I plan to enlist hubby's "help" on a regular basis to kick start labour :+ (it worked for Wendy!).

I just got Cathe's new workouts in the mail today. They couldn't have come at a more perfect time!

Thanks for asking about me, Kristi. I'm glad we were able to follow each other throughout these months. It's been really nice to have a "pregnancy buddy". :)

Sandra

That is so great that everything is going so well with this pregnancy and you are feeling great! No wonder you are thinking about baby #3. It is so hard to believe we are both moving right along and our times are drawing near.

This pregnancy has been okay. I can't complain too much because I have not had any major complications like others have. I feel very fortunate in that aspect. I think the main issues I've dealt with were in the first 6 months major sinus problems & no relief or sleep for that matter and then following that was about 2 1/2 months with little sleep due to DH being out-of-town for work and DS not sleeping well. I'm still getting up about every 2 hours to pee. Wish it was only once or twice at night. :) My ligament pain luckily was very minimal and did not last long. I've noticed that since yesterday the baby has really dropped and now I am very uncomfortable when I am driving, must be a combination of the the position of the seat and my body. Also, my hands, feet, wrists, & ankles are swelling like you would not believe. In one week I have gained 4 pounds, and I have not been overly indulging in bad food either. How in the world is that possible?

Yesterday's doctor appointment went really well though. The nurse hooked me up to the fetal monitor. When she went to hook up the contraction belt I thought to myself, what a waste of time I'm only having BH. Well, come to find out, my self-diagnosed BH are actually contractions, did not experience much of this with DS. I've been having a lot of them the past week or so.

I'm hoping for a Labor Day baby too. Tonight I have push mowing my lawn (about 1 - 1 1/2 hours) on my to-do list. I'm trying to get in a few more workouts where I can. My energy level is starting to come back a little bit so I'm trying to take advantage of it while I can. Good idea on enlisting DH's "help".

Enjoy your new Cathe workouts! I plan to order them maybe in a week or two for my birthday present. They are coming out at a great time and I think I will get a lot of use out of them. I'll need all the help I can get. :)

Sandra, I completely agree that it has been so nice to have a pregnancy buddy. Hopefully we can celebrate our new babies soon! Well, I've gotta get back to work. Have a great Labor Day weekend and I will be sending baby vibes your way!!

Best wishes,

Kristi,

OMG, really?? That's awful! How do you function during the day with such interrupted sleep? I feel so badly for you!

My baby is also extremely low, and getting lower by the day, it seems. Yesterday when the midwife palpated my belly she was surprised at how low the baby's head is. I forgot to ask her whether she thought it might already be at +1 or +2 station. It sure feels like it must be. To me, it feels like this baby is on the verge of popping right out! My first DD stayed really high until after my water broke, so this bowling-ball-in-the-crotch feeling is new to me.

Wouldn't it all be water weight, as a result of the swelling? I had bad swelling with DD#1; I don't envy you. Can DH massage your feet for you?

LOL! Cool! Excuse my naivity, but at this stage of the pregnancy, what's the difference between BH ctx, and actual ctxs? Do the "real" ctx actually dialate the cervix? Surely this must mean that you wouldn't actually make it to Sept 17, if you weren't being induced IN A WEEK!!!

Glad to hear you've got more energy. The lawn mowing sounds like a lot of hard work. Push, push, push!!! :)

They look like they'll be great for the early post-partum period. When's your birthday?

And hopefully it will be sooner rather than later! I phoned my doula this afternoon (waiting for her to return my call now). I want to ask her what she thinks about how I'm feeling today. I woke up last night, mildly aware of having menstrual-like cramps in my lower pelvis, and extending down my quadraceps. They gradually went away, and didn't really disrupt my sleep much. But this morning the baby feels even lower, and I'm just feeling kind of crampy, tired and blah. I'm also feeling mildly nauseas. I feel such a strong intuition that I'm going to have this baby some time this weekend, but I don't know if I'm just getting crazily impatient, or whether there's any merit to how I'm feeling. I seriously cannot see myself being pregnant for another 2 weeks, but who knows? I might be pregnant for another 3 or 4!!! x(

I'm sending baby vibes right back at you!!!!!!!!

All the best,
Sandra

Hi Sandra! Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. On the weekends it is hard to get away for computer time.

Getting up every 2 hours at night really has not been that difficult. My body, I guess, has become accustomed to it, even though my body responds better if I have about 8-9 hours of sleep at night. Hopefully my body will still feel the same way with the lack of sleep after the midnight feedings with DD. However, come 9 at night I'm completely wiped out. That is why if I want to get in any physical activity I have to do it before 8:30 or 9, or not at all. That is primarily why my workouts have been lacking a lot.

"I forgot to ask her whether she thought it might already be at +1 or +2 station."

It sounds like the baby is ready to come at any time! What does it mean by station? Normally my doctor only states if I am dialated or not, but never mentions station. I'll ask her tomorrow about that when I go for my last dr appt so she can give me my hospital orders for Friday morning. Hopefully I will dialated even more this time.

"When's your birthday?" My 30th birthday is Sept. 15. I'm actually looking forward to turning 30, no regrets here. I've always told DH that I wanted to be finished having kids by the time I was 30. I'm coming in right on schedule.

"I phoned my doula this afternoon (waiting for her to return my call now). I want to ask her what she thinks about how I'm feeling today. What did your doula have to say? Are you still having the same symptoms? Any contractions to report? Hopefully you are in labor right now.

"Excuse my naivity, but at this stage of the pregnancy, what's the difference between BH ctx, and actual ctxs? Do the "real" ctx actually dialate the cervix?"

I did some reading this weekend and from what I've read I think the main difference between BH and real contractions is that BH does not lead into labor. I think both can dialate the cervix, but I'm not exactly sure on that. This whole contraction thing is confusing. I'm sure that Autumn could shed some light onto this question for us.

Take care and I'll talk to ya later.
