Sad Morning...:(

Hi Everyone,

I did a head count and everyone is accounted for and seems to be fine. We haven't buried CC yet because we wanted to get a suitable box to put her in and of course, nothing was readily available because the stores were all closed. I'm starting to think she was either clipped by a car, or died of causes that were natural - maybe due to a heart problem. I guess this is feasible because she was the offspring of a feral - one we kept trying to trap and get spayed before she'd go into heat again. The mother eventually disappeared before we accomplished this, but I'm thinking the repeated pregnancies and deliveries could open the door to physical problems in her kittens.

I would rather think this is what has happened than I would like to believe she was poisoned. The thought of that makes me sick. I live in a neighborhood where such a thing is possible of course, even by accident, but I just can't bring myself to accept that because I'd be so worried all of the time for the rest of the clan.

I want to thank all of you for your hugs and well wishes. I appreciate it more than you know. :)

Reese,

I'm late at responding to this but wanted to let you know how sorry I am about your loss! It touches me as I currently have a cat family of four after losing a long time companion to cancer in January. They add so much to our lives!

Sorry for your loss. My first thought is that your kitty died of a heart condition. Probably an arrthymia due to Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). HCM is a very common cause of death in young cats that don't appear sick. Sometimes they have symptoms (fast breathing) sometimes they don't. Their heart can become enlarged very quickly.

Sorry for you loss,

Lisa Schroeder, DVM

Sorry for you loss. We just lost our kitty in May and she was 8, but as far as we knew she had no problems. She just laid down in our bedroom and we watched her die. It was awful and we had no idea at the time that is what was happening. It's so hard to lose a pet like that. ((hugs))

Hi Reese,

I am not a regular poster but I would like to note how sorry I am. I have not owned cats, but my mother has seven dogs that I worry myself crazy over. I can't imagine how you are feeling; our pets are quite "human" to me and I do not even want to think of losing one. I know it's a small comfort, but it is obvious you care about your cats and remember that you loved her and that's what counts. Personally, that's the only way I could even try to deal with it.

Take care,

Christine

Reese, I am so sorry! (Cute name BTW!) We lost our 20 year old cat this past summer and it hurts still. I will be thinking of you and hope all your other kitties are fine. HUGS!
