I was wondering whether those of you that run if you ran and did your Cathe workouts back to back or if you did them at 2 different times throughout the day? Also do you find you get more out of your workout if you ran first before your Cathe workout or did you find you did better with your Cathe workout first and then ran?:)

Thanks for any responses.:)

I usually just do one or the other, not both. BUT when I want to mix things up, I have done both.(its usually a weight workout,or a CTX cardio)
I use to choose running first b/c I wouldn't have to do the warm up for the cathe workout.I also didn't like the thoughts of going outdoors in clothes I may have already been sweating in.If it was a colder day and I had to go outside in damp clothes.....then I wouldn't be going.
As for what results you will get...I don't think it makes much difference. Its all personnal preference.

Hey Sabrina, I'm a runner, but I am also a very busy mom. I run at 5:30 A.M. and squeeze my Cathe workout in after. During the school year, I do my workout after I drop my children off at school. When my hubby travels, it really takes some time management creativity to get my workout and run in. For me, I prefer to run first, but you have to find out for yourself what works best for you :)

I get up early and do my strength workouts before my kids get up.

I run in the evening after DH gets home and he watches the kids for me. It's getting dark earlier, so I'm going to have to figure something new out soon.

On the days that I do weights I used to do the weights first and then run for 30 minutes or so. Lately, I have been running first and then doing weights so that I am warmed up for the weight work. On the days that I do not do weights, I run for an hour or do my longer Cathe cardio. That may flip-flop again soon and I may end up going back to weights first before cardio. I have done it both ways and I just change it to be doing something different. But......yes, I do weights from Cathe and run on the same day.

I run for 6 miles at a time (about an hour) and I have found that I just cannot do lower body weight work the same day. I just really suffer through the workout, so I do lower body strength on the days I do not run.

Hi-

Ideally, I like to run first thing in the morning for about 30-40 minutes. Then at lunch time do strength training. Its great because I can get the cardio in, recover for a few hours, eat a snack and then give 100% to my weight workout. However, that is the perfect world, most of the time I don't have that luxury!

If you can't put a significant amount of time in between cardio and weights, than I think that whatever you want to improve on is what you should do first. If you want to increase strength, do your weights first. Cardio capacity, do cardio first.

Good luck, Lynn M.

I know we are all different and what worked for me was always doing any Cathe leg weight workout before I ran. When I do upperbody weight work I can do that before or after a run. I have done a Cathe step workout in the afternoon after weights and running in the morning, but not everyday. And it always depends on if I am just running 3 days a week or marathon training when I run 6 days a week. Then I change things up a bit....I know this will sound bizarre, but I have had some awesome runs after heavy leg weight training...so it does depend on the individual...:)...Carole
