Ryka Transitions

Hello! I need to get a new pair of workout shoes and noticed you've mentioned ryka transitions were used for the new workouts. On the website they're listed as studio shoes. Would these be recommended for working out on a carpeted surface, too?

Thanks =)

Not Cathe so I'm not sure what she'd recommend, but I have the transitions, so I might be able to give you some info on them. I work out on a thin Asian style rug with no padding below, over tile. The surface of the rug is smooth with a short pile. The bottom of the transitions do not have deep grooves, like say a trail running shoe does, so you don't have any trouble doing moves like pivots or anything that are sometimes hard to do on carpeted surfaces. No knee twisting for me so far.

They have a nice roomy toe box which I love, and they are ultra light, but I do wish they had a bit more cushioning in the front of the foot like previous styles of Rykas have had. These are very flat and a bit thinner than usual, IMO.

I also have the transitions and I work out on carpet. It seems to work well for me. Also, I ordered my shoes from Amazon where I found the best price.

Thanks so much for your feedback! I would have gotten back to this thread sooner, but my password has been messed up and I've just today been able to log in.

So I live in a pretty heavily populated area (southern california) and I couldn't find the rykas I was looking for. I went to several stores and they'd have one style or nothing. Finally, I went to Finish Line and they had a pair of Assists on sale for really cheap but the guy told me they were just a walking shoe and I wouldn't want them for impact. He said a lot of places don't actually carry Rykas as they're apparently not as highly regarded as the other brands. I ended up getting Asics Blurs, which were pretty much the only cross trainers that weren't completely hideous (in my opinion). They've been good so far! I got some insoles to go with them too. =)

I've worn Asics also and I like them too so you can't go wrong with those. Did you visit the Ryka website for a description of their shoes? It is possible that the shoe they had in their store is just a walking shoe. Don't worry---with all the Cathe workouts you are doing, you will have a chance to buy many more shoes and decide which style you like best.
