Running Shoes

Hi, I need a little assistance. I love my Saucony Shadow 9 shoes and have promptly worn them out. Two years later I am still wearing the same fricking shoes, with 2 blown out heels, and two holes near my foot. I know I am like a year and a half past the time for replacing shoes at 30 miles per week.

I have tried unsucessfully to replace these shoes ( 6 attempts) but have found nothing that does not cause a callous, or foot pain, or whatever. Can I substitute the same model shoe in a mens version? I cannot find one available for a woman anywhere.

Thanks in advance for any help:)

Do you have a running shoe specialty store near you? You absolutely need to go somewhere like this and be fitted by a professional. I can't stress to you enough how important it is. You don't want to end up with foot issues like Planta Fasciitis, believe me!

I go to Fleet Feet. Check out if there's one near you.

I think getting fitted is a good idea too. And you have lucked out without getting any injuries with those old shoes!! I have worn a men's version of my favorite running shoes and they worked well. Did you Google the specific shoes you are looking for? I do it all the time to find the best prices...:)

I swear by Nike and Ryka. Cathe introduced me to Ryka. We don't really get these here in Toronto unless we get lucky at a "Winners" store. So I order them online.

A friend loves New Balance (or is it Nu Balance?) Dunno - but I am a huge fan of Ryka and Nike. AND .. please throw them away after a certain period, they lose their shock absorbing abilities (at least that is what the Nike guy told me when I purchased my first pair) - so as a habit, if I have been working out 7 days a week (which has not been the case lately because of a knee injury) but any way, when I did workout 7 days per week, I would alternate the shoes so they get time to 'breath' and throw them away every 3 months - when I say 'throw' I mean use them as walking shoes outdoors or literally throw them away depending on how much I am attached to them at the time. Eventually they hit the bin regardless.

And yes, the Nike guy fitted me - I wear size 5 shoes but ended up with 5.5 with Nike and Ryka (hard to find in 5.5!)

I only wear men's running shoes. They are more comfortable for me. I wear a size 9 in womens shoes and wear a 7 1/2 in the men's running shoes I love (Asics).
