Runners - what brand/type of watch do you run with?

Polar...it is also a HRM. It was $149 (again, HRM too). Just a sports watch will run way, way WAY less $$$. www.heartratemonitorsusa.com will have watches that range from basic basic to bells and whistles. They have excellent prices. I ordered from them a few times with excellent service.

Timex ironman...purchased at Wal-Mart...maybe forty bucks..I don't remember. Cheap, but works great.

Hey Jillybean:) I'm new to all of this and just last week purchased a Timex 'Fitness Model' sports watch and HRM. I got it at Costco for $69.99 Canadian. It's a great new toy, I love quantifying my runs and workouts, the recovery and review features are great tools for tracking progress.

Take Care
Laurie:)

That's all you need! I forgot to mention that WalMart has a good selection of the nicer brands like this one at a fraction of the cost. Check their website, too! The website has some awesome steals!

I bought a sports watch at walmart for 32.00. I just recently bought a 301 garmin, it tells you how far you have run, your pace, heart rate and calories burned. I love it, 149.00 through walmart web site also.

I used to run with some type of Timex Ironman until Heart Rate monitors came out! Sarah gave you the best site for those plus they have some GPS watches too (if that interests you at all) So, now I also have a Timex Heart Rate/GPS watch that I use when I do unmarked trails. But during my weekly runs when I know the distance I use a Polar Heart Rate monitor....:)

Actually, a GPS watch is what I was looking for. Would you guys suggest a heart rate monitor watch instead?

A running novice would be an understatement, but I’d like to start and my mom said she’d buy me the watch of my choice for my birthday! (Which isn’t for another three months, but one can dream, can’t they!!!)

Jillybean...you can get a watch with both. But check out the site Sarah suggested www.heartratemonitorsusa.com as they have the best prices. GPS's are under Timex and Garmin and they have combo HR/GPS too...I have used both Timex and Polar watches and they are both great companies...:)

I used to have a polar beat HRM...but I gave it to one of my friends...she was pregnant and I was conserned she was working out beyond accepting training limits for a pregant woman...I've been running so long I can tell by the time it takes me to finish a mile if my intensity level is high enough...plus I use RPE

I have a polar monitor watch, but I wear my everyday watch. ;)
