Hi, I had PF several years ago. I went to see a podiatrist who was a runner, and we developed a plan of attack that really worked for me.
a) I wore PowerStep brand shoe inserts always. From the minute my feet hit the floor in the AM, I was wearing shoes with that brand of inserts. No barefooting it! (Today, about 6 years later, still wear PowerSteps).
b) While sitting and reading or whatever in the evenings, roll a golf ball under each foot, and not particularly gently. Some people use cans, but he recommended a golf ball.
c) I started buying my running shoes (even though I couldn't run at the time) at a local place that watched me run and then made shoe recommendations based on my stride.
d) Stretch, stretch, stretch. I used to hold the yoga "downward dog" position for like five minutes, it felt/hurt so good.
e) We did cortisone injections. Some people choose not to.
f) I went to a physical therapist specializing in sports medicine, who gave me a whole stretching routine that was extremely helpful.
Sorry, I've not tried the strassburg sock. I probably would have, because when I'm injured, I usually try many different things. Good luck to you.
