Good Morning Runners!:)

Anyone besides Sarah doing anything crazy today?;) I got out last night, just for a 10 k, but I also ran 20 mintues yesterday morning so I guess I really did about 14 k.It was an o.k run but the wind was high.
I am working all weekend so I didn't get up to workout today, I wanted sleep more and I needed it.I am hoping to do something after work tonight.I would like to get a 6 mile run in and GS legs...but I may end up taking the day off...we will see!
Lori:)

Hi Lori-
It must have been hard runing in the wind.

My schedule has been run M W F only so far, but I felt very good yesterday and my running buddies want to run today. They are doing 7 miles, but I will do just 3, becaue I just don't want to add 7 more miles this week if I am only up to 18 miles per week. Does that make sense?

I will add some legs in after the run also this morning.

Good morning you early birds Lori and Judy!..:)

Good Luck Sarah!!! I think your 20 will go well..:)

Laura..good luck also on your half marathon!

Marsha...it was an old treadmill. As I was running on it and realized how slow I was going, I kicked it up and all of a sudden I heard this loud noise...I jumped up and landed both feel on the outside steel parts of the treadmill as the tread stopped moving! I could have erased my face!!!

Welcome Kathy G..I think your training sounds a lot like mine. For the marathons I have done I normally do 2, 20 milers and a 22 miler during the training for my longer runs. For 50K's I do run a couple of 24 milers. I also continue weights and other cardio during my taper...:) Good Luck in New Jersey and I hope you will qualify for Boston!!

Mattea...it has been great for my mood seeing the sun!! I think most of our heavy rain is over. I agree with you too as I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone on this thread and hearing about their runs. I know during my harder runs, I think of all of you here and it does motivate me to push...:)

No run for me today. I was swamped at work the last 2 days and I am so tired. But Sat is not usually a running day for me anyway. I'll do some Power Yoga and I think L&G ankle weight section

Have a great day :)

Morning everyone,
I have a 10 miler on tap for today. I think I'm going to be lazy and do it on my treadmill while I watch some fitness DVDs, lol! Right now I'm just waiting for my family to get up so I can start....

Lori, yikes wind is tough! I think you expend twice as much energy running against it.

Judy, makes perfect sense. ;-)

Carole, you'll have to tell me more about your 50k races. I'm doing a 50k trailrun this summer that's basically 12-13 loops around a 2.5 mile course in a park/reserve area. Last year I did the 25k and thought I'd die in the 100+ degree heat index!

Kathy I have done 2 50K's, planning on my 3rd this July. All on trails. The first one was tough but the second...WOW! Alot tougher. This hill at 20 miles about blew me away..I thought how in the world could you run up that!! The first was in Placerville Cal, "Run on the Sly", and the 2nd was in Cool, Cal "Way to Cool 50K". I trained similar to marathon training, but doing most of my long runs on trails. I tried to stagger my weekly distances 44, 48, 52 miles weekly and did one speedwork run a week, sometimes 2. Most of my long runs were 16-18 miles with a 20, 22 and 24 for the the longer distance runs. My 1st 50K was 6:11 and the 2nd was 6:55....I know I trained harder for the first one. It is true what they say...running a 50K is easier than a marathon!...:)

I just popped in to pout :-( because I haven't been to the gym (running) since LAST Tuesday!!! That's the 4th of April!!! AAAARRRRRGGGHHH! x(

Great job everyone! Hopefully I'll be joining ya soon!:)

Hey, today is Sarah's marathon, right? WOW! How freakin' awesome is that!!!! :+

No Wendy...today Sarah is doing her last long training run of 20 miles. her marathon is in 3 weeks...:)

Hi Carole and Kathy-
Well my run ended up being 5.2 miles on the Erie Canal with friends and it felt great. I think I'm going to skip legs today. I iced my calf and may have gotten frost bite. I put the bag of iceon bare skin and my skin turned white after a few minutes of reading the forums!

Carole -I just can't imagine how anyone can run for so long!!!! Wowza!

Thanks carole for the good wishes!!I didnt do as good as I had hoped for but I finished in 2hrs 8minutes which is still 3minutes off my last half. I decided today though that going for 2hrs probably isnt realistic this year anyway so when I do the cleveland half next month I will shoot for anything better than the 2hrs 8min. I guess because I shaved off 10min from my very first half that I thought I could do it again. But my first half I had only just been running four months when I did that one. that is probably why I was able to take so much time off that one being my next one was a yr later. Oh well I felt pretty good up until the last 2 miles. I didnt know the last mile and a half was all trail running which mentally through me. My so called pacing buddy left me right from the start because there where three guys that he knows that showed up and he couldnt let them beat him, so he did his own thing. I was okay with that though. I figured he might change his mind come race day. anyway thanks everyone for the good wishes and even though I didnt make a better time I did overall feel better this half, which mentally helps me know I am on the right track with training. Sarah good luck on your 20miler, I cant even imagine running that far. It is a beautiful day today for running, hope everyone enjoys their run!!:)

Just a quick check in today as today is full of family stuff and donating blood (I got a free beanie baby chick!) No running today either, but some quick and intense cardio this morning. Imax 3 intervals 4,5,6 and the KM blasts plus Coremax 1 with DH, whose calf is still feeling it. He went for a quick run by himself today, (20 min. or so, but had to turn back).
All the stories of the long runs, coupled with the return of the beautiful weather has really got me wishing I was training for something way longer than a 5K, so anticlimatic, you know?
Laura-Congratulations on the time improvement! Sorry about getting ditched by your pacing buddy. If DH did that he might cross the finish line first, but it could be the last thing he ever does}(
Happy Easter!!!
Mattea

The truth is Judy when you do a 50K you do walk quite a few steep hills as they always seem to be there!! So, I never totally "run" for the whole distance...wow...hope you didn't get frostbite.

Laura...improving your time...even 3 minutes is AWESOME!!!! I am very happy for you...and if you keep up your steady training I know you will improve even more the next half...:)

Mattea!!!! There is no way in ....well you know.....he!!...that I would even consider running especially THAT 100 miler!....50K is far enough for this girl...

Glad I am not running today...it is windy and nasty outside...

Good afternoon, all! I am first posting at 2pm because I worked out this morning and then had to take a two hour NAP to recover a little! :) I only ran 2 miles, followed with Plyo X. I planned to run right out and get started, but things at my house kept coming up so I didn't eat and didn't start exercising until about an hour and a half after I woke up. Bad idea!! But I've more than made up for it, unfortunately. x(

I hope your runs today were all nice and fun and Sarah had a great time! I'm planning another 2 miles tomorrow before I do Shoulders and Arms from P90X...
