Wow! I can't believe I'm the first one here this morning.

I'm doing 45 minutes on the elliptical before breakfast. After breakfast I'll do MM upper body premix.

Morning everyone,
Hi Elaine! Well, today was a rest day for me...I haven't had one in awhile and it was time. ;-)

Oh, and I had to do what I thought would be a quick errand last night after work but it turned into a long drawn out affair....SO no run last night either! x(

Don't you just hate when *life* gets in the way of your exercise/running life? ;)

Kathy

Hello ladies -

Yesterday was an unintentional rest day (meaning I got home from work and plopped on the couch because I was too tired to workout). I think I needed it though, I feel much better today.

Today's plan is a 30 min run/walk after work.

Elaine...I tried to post earlier but the site froze up and wouldn't come up...other sites would but not this one, so I had to run first! Have fun with MM...I do love those workouts on that DVD.

Kathy...rest is good especially with a marathon coming up! Yes, I hate when things get in the way of running and exercising. Obsessive Compulsive you think...:)

Enjoy your run/walk today Diane. I bet you will feel better after a rest day...:)

I did PUB Back & Shoulders and a 4 mile run. I am so jazzed as I got in 42 miles this week!!!! I seemed to be stuck at 37-38 and I really pushed this week. I do think about all of you and your running and I know it has really helped me. This is one great check-in!!!!

Have a great friday...:)

wow carole 42miles, thats alot. Is running your main cardio ? How many times a week do you do wts? I cant manage to sqeeze in 26miles let alone 42. I have gotten up to 20miles. But after next week I wont be doing spin class anymore and I will be adding in another day of running right up until my half. That shouldnt be a big deal since my half is may 20th should it. I just thought maybe an extra day of running might help endurance wise.Today I will just be doing upper body wts, I really want to get more definition, and it seems to be slow. any suggestions ? I am only working upper body 2x week, and I go as heavy as I can, I watch my form closely. I have been doing the firms jiggle free arms the past two weeks, I was doing cathes slow and heavy, muscle endurance and PUB, alternating between them. I really want some muscle definition for the summer and help I would appreciate.

Hi All! No running for me today, need a break after yesterdays long one. Today will be HSTA and I'll follow it with a good interval workout, probably HCExtreme #2- the hi-lo version. Tomorrow will be a rest day and am I looking forward to it!

Have some great runs everyone....enjoy life!

Kathy, I don't really schedule rest days because life always seems to make them happen naturally.

Carole, I had a problem getting here this morning too but I tried again a couple of minutes later and had the privelege of starting this thread!

Next time I say I am going to do weights right after cardio someone please remind me not to do that. I was so wiped out that it was not fun and I was rather weak. Now, I have no problem when I do weights first then cardio.

Elaine-I prefer to do the weights before cardio if I am running. After the run my stretch and breakfast await.

Periodically I can sneak in some yooga after the run- Hopefully tomorrow

Today was 6 miles preceded by PUB biceps. I felt really good on our hilly course with my two friends. However, one of them had a cramp and had to stop early. She is getting them frequently now. We don't know how to help her. My suggestion was for her to cut out the morning coffee or at least to switch it to decaf. Any other clues?

I am going to run a flat course on the canal tomorrow to make my total for the week 23-23 miles. ***For me this is a big deal.

Carole- Great job on your high milage this week!!!

Kathy-There's life other than exercise life? :+ Yes, last night I thought about a run after work, but was experiencing major DOMS from the PP premix and so turned it into a nice after dinner walk with DH.

Elaine-I like to do weights first if the cardio is running afterwards, but if it's something that has blasts or requires getting my feet up onto a step I almost always opt for the cardio first, safer this way...

Carole-Congratutalations on upping your mileage! Pretty soon you'll be running the equivalent of 2 marathons every week.

I have a quick question about the HRM tempo run. I tried it this morning, but found that I had a hard time keeping my HR in a consistent place, 5 beats elevated, 4 more beats, etc. With all the hills around where I live it kept jumping around, and then when I was supposed to be coming back down I felt so warmed up that I had to keep my HR up at the highest level to feel like I was really doing something. Do you have any advice on keeping the HR consistent at each level, or do I just need more practice. Plus I felt like I spend almost as much time looking at the HRM as at the road, LOL! I ran 10 min. then 6 at plus 5 beats, 5 at plus 4, 4 at plus 3, then "back down" except my HR pretty much stayed at the "plus 3" level. Followed this up with Bryan Kest Power yoga.

Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy and cold here, so I think I'll be bringing it inside. Sending sunny thoughts in everyone else's direction.
