I'm first?!?! Where's Carole? Where's Sarah? Lori? Wendy? Elaine?
I have another LOOONNGG work day ahead, and it's so early}( But I've already completed the 80 min. Push/Pull premix, which is a pretty good endurance workout when you need a change from MM, ME, PH, MM, ME, PH, MM, ME, PH...you get the idea :) If I'm feeling up to it I may do a quick three mile steady state this pm, or maybe a nice long after dinner walk with DH.
Can't wait to hear from the rest of you sleepy heads
:p
Mattea

Good morning Mattea! I was posting the same time as you. Like you, I am surprised to not see this already started. They are probably getting their run in for the day while we are already at work. Great workout already this morning. I've never tried the Push/Pull premix yet, but I will need to put that on my list.

Have a great day!

Good Morning Kristi!
You're right, we are the earlybirds this morning--maybe we should be running more miles? ;-)
Sounds like you have a great workout planned, in spite of the weather (which is beautiful here today as well, so watch out Carole, better take some pig treats on your run today:p )
Mattea

Good morning Kristia and Mattea!

Okay I confess...I got up at 5:15 instead of 5:00....x( ...glad you 2 started this one!!

And I do need coffee before I run...

Good workout Mattea...not sure I have done that PP premix yet. I think I do have some pig treats aroung here somewhere, maybe they will eat the dog biscuits I carry....:)

Kristi...its nice to have the treadmill when the weather is nasty, enjoy your run.

I'll be doing some legwork, a 5 mile run and end with Yoga...and a very beautiful day looms ahead....:)

Good morning Carole! Enjoy your coffee and your workout. I'm glad its not going to rain for your run. About time right?

The treadmill is nice to have for those rainy days, but I prefer outdoors. I run faster when I am outside for some odd reason.

Thanks Kristi...the last few days have been very nice, and it really seems to improve everyones mood!! I have always preferred running outside. And for the majority of the year here in Cal, the weather isn't too bad....I have run for so long I just head out the door no matter what...:)

Morning Mattea, Kristi, Carole, and the rest of our runner group. :)

I've never tried the PP Premix either, I'll have to put it on my list. My favorite long premix is the Legs & Glutes Extreme....wowsa! :7 I'm with you Kristi & Carole, I prefer to run outside when the weather's nice, too. BUT since I've gotten a newer treadmill at home with iFit and found Cardio Coach, it's a lot more bearable to run inside.

Well, Laura...I ordered two of the Runnervals this morning. :D I got the hill climber and 10k builder, I'll let you know what they're like when I get them. It looks like they'll be shipped from the East Coast so I should have them fairly soon.

This morning I did the step portion of SJP and Gym Style Legs. What a great workout GS Legs is...I haven't done that gem in awhile! I plan on doing a 4 mile run around the neighborhood when I get home, too. Have a good one!

Kathy G

Kathy...I checked out your Picture trail...Some beautiful pics!! You look GREAT, and have a nice family too..:)

I'm going to do GS Legs this morning then run 5 miles a couple of hours after that. I'm getting bored with my same old running routes which all have a varying numbers of hills and at least one huge one. My regular long run route is relatively unhilly but there are parts of it where I won't run alone. Normally when I want to tone down the intensity I just take the hills slower but I feel like I need a change today! Therefore, I'm going to map out a flat one on USATF.com.

Adding to tell Mattea that I love that looong Push/Pull premix when I have the time to do it! I forgot about it so it's been awhile. Thanks for the inadvertant reminder!:) I think I'll try to work that one in next week.

Good morning...it is still morning for me anyway. I'm getting set to go out for a good long run, 18 miles I hope. I've done it only once before but I've chosen a nice flat course which is unusual around here. Speaking of the PP premix, I did this one last week and had some serious DOMS afterwards. It's a wonderful, often over-looked workout. I better get going on this run....I have a very challenging HM race in a couple of weeks. Have a great day everyone!
ShellyC

Oh Mattea...I wasn't sleeping!!! I was actually still working on my 6 miles! Then I had to receive the neighbors DD to babysit, get my DD to school, shower, eat, yadda yadda...

Anyway, I did 6 miles this week...enjoying my taper! Only 13 miles this Saturday! Weather will be perfect!

16 more days until MARATHON DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No running for me until tomorrow possibly. I am scheduled for cardio tomorrow and want to head to the gym but a SPIN class is calling my name so we'll see... }(

Awe, thanks Carole. :) I have a 22 year old daughter and two sons, ages 20 and 15. My daughter moved out of the house a little over a year ago and just got engaged around Xmas. No wedding date set yet, thank goodness! :7 We're originally from Colorado and go home every couple of years, I miss family (and the mountains) very much!

Judy, great workout!

Elaine, I have the same problem...limited running routes. The only place to run around my house is straight up a busy road, so most of my time is spent jumping to the side (because of limited road side shoulders). There's a jog/bike path about 5 miles away that I do my long runs on sometimes. During the warmer months, I'll stop by for a quick weekday run on the way home.

ShellyC and Sarah, where are your races? Are you doing them alone or in a group?

Kathy

Hello Mattea, Kristi, Judy, Shelly, Elaine, Sarah, Tigger, Kathy and Carole! Whew! Did I miss anyone? Hey, where is Lori, Laura and Missy? Ok, here goes I’m trying to not be dead last in posting my running workout for the day. Since I work out in the AM and have to get me and the kids out the door, I usually can’t get on here until my first break which is probably after lunch time for most of ya’ll. I ran a whopping 4 treadmill miles and had time for some pilates. Anyhoo, as usual you guys are totally groovin’ today with your runs and workouts! I love coming here everyday for continued inspiration. Carole, I bet you are enjoying the sunshine!! Cuz I sure am! - Kathy your pics look fabulous! - Elaine, I know what you mean about running alone on some routes. I can’t really run alone on some of my routes either. But my almost 14 year old son is on the track team now and wants to run with me, so this will be good! Oh, and here’s something from yesterday I posted but I think it was too late!:

Sarah - I wanted to thank you for sharing your stretching photos. I have been doing them BEFORE and AFTER each run and I think they are helping me to not get injured again! You rock girl, and I’ll be rooting for you on May 7th!.

Run on ladies!! :7

Thomasina

Thomasina, That is great! I am so glad they are helping! Stretching really helps keep injury away! It was only when I started rushing through my stretching and skipping some critical hip ones that I was plagued with an injury. Never again...I'll cut a run short to get my stretching in before I skip or fast forward through the stretches!

Kathy, My marathon is here in Cincinnati, The Flying Pig.

Sarah, I'm interested in what stretches you recommend before/after a run. Since I am still so new in running I could use all the info you can give me. I've been noticing that my calf is still pretty tight even though I stretch, I must not be doing it right or long enough.

Also, I did not realize we lived so close to each other. I live about 1 1/2 hours away in Lexington, KY. Small world. Good luck with The Flying Pig Marathon!

Carole-5:15, why you layabout! The PP premix is 80 min. long so I had to get up much earlier than I ever, ever, ever normally would choose to or be forced to. That's why I was so suprised to be the one starting this thread. Glad that I discovered this premix and glad that I reminded the rest of you to visit/revisit it. PP is so fun, but shorter/easier.

Kathy-I've only done the L&G extreme premix a handfull of times, because I don't want my legs to think I've declared war on them and have them stop working;-) Killah'

Elaine-What is USATF.com and how can I build a temple to worship something that leads me to flat terrain? Upstate NY, and yes, most of it is "up":p I won't run alone either, and unfortunately (fortunately?) my DH loves plodding up, up, and away.

Shelly-Best of luck on the 18 miles! That rocks! Let us know how it goes.

Sarah-I wouldn't think you were lazy even if you were sleeping, I'm willing to be you get more done in your sleep than I do awake:)

Kristi-Sarah's got some awe-inspiring pics on her picture trail of herself performing some stretches that I know really help to loosen my hips which are always so tight.

Thomasina-It's awesome that you have a 14 year old who wants to run with you and not away from you. Sounds like you are an awesome mom! Even the best parents seem to run into teenage trouble!

Mattea

Hi Everyone - I haven't been able to read all the posts or check-in much lately because it has been busy at work. Last night I went to the gym and did a 30 min run/walk and then we back to work until 11 pm. Luckily, the gym is in my office building so I had the time for a 30 min workout and a quick shower before getting back to work!

uh, yeah, I do have teenage trouble! The almost 17 year old!! She's just started to give us our first round of agony! Her almost 16 year old sister is really disgusted with her at the moment, also because she and her brother think we are the coolest parents ever and don't want the 17 year old to "mess it up". LOL - Hopefully this is just a phase and she will come around to her senses again, but I tell ya, it is soooooo difficult to not be the bad guy and set the limits with her when the "average" teen girl around here is allowed to ride in cars with boys over 18, spend every other minute unmonitored on myspace.com, MSN and etc., blah, blah..…whew! I guess I need to pipe down now since this is a running thread and not a ranting thread! I think we are blessed though to have good kids (for the most part) and yes, I have had other people comment that it is amazing my kids like to “hang out” with “the parents” …(chuckling)

ETA:

Shelly!! Good Luck on the 18 miler!!
Diane!! - Way cool to get those workouts in on a busy schedule - go girl!!
