Rounded Belly Mom's Check-in Week of Aug 14th

Hi there fellow pregos! Hope everyone had a great week. Things are cooling down here in Minnesota & it feels as if Fall is right around the corner. I had family visiting this weekend, but they stayed at a hotel so I was able to keep up with my workouts. I tried lots of new ones. Yeah!! Loved each one!!

Maggie, Did you do IMax 3 just to prove to yourself you can still do it? Man, that workout just knocked me out a couple of weeks ago. It's going into the vault until bambino is born. ;) How are you feeling? More peaceful I hope. ;)

Julie L, that really really really stinks about the BH contractions leaving you workoutless. I'm so sorry. :( I had BHC with 1st one, not with the 2nd one, and I haven't had any this time around either. I'm praying for you!!!

Sunny, just TWO more days!!! I have a scheduled C-Section too. I imagine I will be a wreck waiting for the day. It's almost better not to know, huh? I also happen to have a super light week at work that week...which leaves me with 5 days off prior to my C Section. I wonder if I could do some volunteer work or something to keep my mind off of things? :D :D You will also be in my prayers & I can't wait to hear about the birth of your new baby!!!

Kristi, my brave friend. Are you still there? I think I missed your post last week.

Jogger7474, how did your 2nd u/s go? Why did you have another one scheduled?

Okay, here's my week:
Sun: Mindy Mylrea's Cardio Options + Pilates for Pregnancy
Mon: Body Max
Tue: off
Wed: CArdio Options Part 1-2
Thurs: CArdio Optsion Parts 1,2 & 4 + High Step Challenge Abs
Fri: Janis Saffell's Strike Zone
Sat: Janis' Hardcore Kickbox Extreme

Wow, 6 days this week. I'm pretty proud of myself. I have't done that in a loooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggg time. Yahoo!! My weight has stabilized & it doesn't appear that my belly has grown in a while. It was like I got big right away & then stopped growing for a while. Is that normal with 3rd pgs?

Hi everyone,

We're losing members very quickly, with all these immanent deliveries.

Good job on the 6 workouts last week, Melanie! I'm not familiar with most of those workouts you did. How do they compare to Cathe?

I finished the July '05 rotation today. That feels like a good accomplishment. Here's my week:

MON: Christie Taylor's Still Steppin'
TUES: Pyramid Lower Body (standing legs); IMAX3 step-only premix
WEDS: Rhythmic Step warm up; MIC step and cool-down/stretch
THURS: Body Fusion
FRI: All Step
SAT: KPC intermediate premix; Super Sets
SUN: rest

Have a good week!
Sandra

They are comparable to Cathe. These two ladies (and Billy Blakes) are the only other ladies I'll workout too. Pilates for pregnancy was borrowed from library. It went back the next day. Enough said about that video. ;)
Sometimes I need a break from Cathe. Then I can go back to her with full force. :D
I tried Christi Taylor. I couldn't get her choreography.

Hi everyone!

Yes, we are losing members and not many are coming in behind. I feel like Adrienne and I are the last in line. Someone else get pregnant or I'll feel like an idiot posting to myself at the end:p :+ .

Yes, I am feeling better. I had my ultrasound and everything looks normal (of course my pessimistic self says, "but that doesn't mean that everything is normal"--but God's grace is sufficiant, right?) and it's a GIRL!! My 2 DDs are so excited to have a little sister after 2 very cute and wonderful little brothers. I am also feeling her move more. My placenta is in the front, which is why I was not feeling her so much.

My doctor was very stern with me over my weight gain, although I did just fine since I saw him 5 weeks ago. He wants me to keep it up and not gain more than 3 lbs a month from here to delivery. The reason? He does not want me to have another 10 lb 7 oz baby. Apparently, this can be hard on my body, even though I had no trouble last time with delivery. Oh how can I get through the holidays gaining so little?

My workouts
Mon-step blast
Tues-GS BSB/CT timesavers
Wed-GS legs standing+KPC kick/punch drills
Thurs-IMAX 2 (modified, especially interval 9, which was almost completely changed)
Fri-high step challenge (made the cardio intervals low impact--used low max intervals for inspiration--a very satisfying workout)
Sat-low max/imax 3 step only premixes--I was very tired and my legs were sore--did not feel like I was really putting all that much into it.
Sun-REST!!!

Melani-IMAX 3 was modified--waaay modified--last week, and I think it will be retired, unless I get creative and substitute low max interval type stuff. Me thinks straddle taps are not a good thing at this time.

What a long post. I look forward to hearing from the rest of you.

Maggie

Hi all. I can't believe how much some of you are doing! I commend you! I'm afraid I need to take it easy for a little while though. I have been feeling a lot of tightness in my abdomen lately whenever I am active (working out, walking the dogs, cleaning, etc). The dr said it's normal to have tightness during and right after a workout, but lately it's been coming on later in the day. It doesn't hurt or even feel uncomfortable, but it makes me really nervous, esp after reading about your experience, Julie L. We're doing so much around the house to tranform our office into a nursery so maybe I am pushing the activity level a bit. I see the dr the week after next so I'll hopefully get some answers then.

So here's my week:

Sunday: IMAX 2 step portions only (no blasts except for #10 because it’s fun and a little easier)
Monday: rest
Tuesday: Timesaver #1 (Step from SJP, chest & triceps)
Wednesday: Timesaver #2 (Step Combo #3 from SB (skipped Hi/Lo from SJP), back & core)
Thursday: Timesaver #3 (Step Combos 1 & 2 from SB, biceps)
Friday: rest
Saturday: Timesaver #4 (KPC cardio, shoulders, core)

Speaking of new mothers, have you all see this?

http://animal.discovery.com/cams/pandavidr.html

It's a webcam on the panda and her new baby at the Washington zoo. Very mesmerizing ...

How do I join in to be part of the weekly check-in? Does each member just post weekly what they have done? What day of the week do you post on? I have just found out I am pregnant. I am just 4 weeks along. This is my second. I have a daughter who is five and beginning kindergarten next week!

Thanks in advance for your help,

Rachel

Just join in during the week when it is convenient for you. We are pretty informal.

Welcome!

Welcome Rachel! Wow, 4 weeks...you found out FAST!!! Congrats! :D We usually begin our posts on Sunday of each week. We post what workouts we did the prior week. We also voice our concerns and praises we have with our pregnancies & anything else we want to talk about.
Welcome aboard!! :D And Congrats again!! :D

Hello!

Sunday - IMAX3 - was feeling pretty perky and needed a boredom buster.
Monday - Walk - country loop with double stroller. The hills seem to be getting steeper ;-) (or is that just my belly in the way?!)
Tuesday - Circuit Max
Wednesday - Walk plus free weights
Thursday - Walk
Friday - nothing. Had weird cramping all day at work - kind of had me concerned. Stronger than BH's (which I've been having, so I know this was different) I felt like I was breaking out in a cold sweat, too, so thought maybe I needed to drink more water or something. Maybe a virus, since I was so nauseated the day before? I was up during the night but it was better by the morning, so I guess it wasn't anything serious.
Saturday - an hour of swimming - laps and general water exercises with the kids.

DH and DD's had a surprise bday for me when they got home from work/daycare Friday. I won't mention my age, but yesterday, I officially bumped up a notch in the Advanced Maternal Age category :) I don't mind getting older, but do we have to keep track of the number?! :) It was fun, though, and I love my presents - lots of 'smelly' stuff (perfume, bath oils, lotions, etc) and electronic equipment - I would have been happy with Cathe videos, but plan to enjoy everything I got while I save my allowance for the practical exercise stuff.

Went to a reunion for DH's grandmother's family today. Didn't know anyone and spent the day entertaining my kids. I'm pooped. They both got carsick there and back, so it was quite the drive... It was 5 hours in the car but felt like days by the time I crawled into the back seat for the umpteenth time with towels, water, wipes, distractions, etc. Gotta talk to their dr. about options - are they too young for Dramamine? For the record, ginger and mint didn't do squat. <sigh> I hate drugging them, but this was ridiculous. We're off to the Outer Banks at the end of Sept. so we have to get a better game plan.

Hope you all have a great week. Anyone working on getting kids back to school? Good luck and hope it goes well.

Hi ladies. You all had such a great week I'm almost ashamed to be posting here. All I did this week was walk Mon-Thurs. We have been so busy in the evenings. We froze 150 more ears of corn and then we canned 30 jars of hot peppers; my son started soccer (that's 2 nights a week) and the heat has been unbearable. I shouldn't be making all these excuses. Plus, to be honest, I am so tired I don't have the energy. I'm hoping that the new DVD's come soon and I get some motivation. I received the PH/MIS/BM dvd on Thurs but I haven't done it - just previewed some of it.

As usual, you ladies rock - all of you had awesome workouts.

Gracenote, what a nice surprise from your DH! Happy belated b-day!

I also have had a buch of cramping/tightening that makes me nervous, so I am slowing down:

Monday: walk 3 miles after work with a TON of running up stairs-- by the time I picked up the kids and got home, I could barely sit up my gut hurt so bad. not good.

Tuesday: nothing

Wednesday: Step Heat (but took out a lot of jumping/twisting moves).

Thursday: gym- 50 minutes, with bike, easy stairmaster, etc. also used leg machines. i made a point of taking it easy and drinking a lot of water- felt fine

Friday; swim a mile

Saturday: swim 25 laps with kickboard

Sunday: bootcamp: cardio only with upper body and a few leg segments. that looks like a crazy hard workout. i won't try it in its entirety until after baby.

I am sticking with easy stuff until postpartum. that cramping stuff was just too scary and dehabilitating. It never happened with my other two kids.

The pool is about the best place for me. OUrs is open on weekends throughout September (very unusual around here), which is good because I hate indoor pools.

my DD starts back at her school (a parochial school with a montessori program) next monday. my other DD is still at a daycare center 3 days a week. During the summer, they're both at daycare together so my summers are so much easier than the school year. VERY little driving and they eat breakfast/lunch at the center. Once school starts, I have to drive more, pack lunches, get breakfast ready etc. So I am working on finetuning our wakeup schedule this week.

have a good week.

Okay ladies!!! You're all freaking me out with your cramping & "stronger than Brixton Hicks contractions. KNOCK IT OFF!!!! ;) I"m going to be praying very hard for this bunch of pregnancies. NOTHING is going to steal our joy of having a wonderful pregnancy & birthing experience. :D :D REPEAT AFTER ME, "Nothing is going to rob me of this wonderful pregnancy experience!"

Okay. Happy birthday GraceNote!!!! Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear GraceNote, happy birthday to you. 35 today?!!?! ;) Just guessing from your hints.

Yahoo!! A little girl Maggie. I have to say, you always seemed like the type that would wait for the surprise. ;) :D

Hi Melanie!

Didn't mean to freak you out - I wasn't concerned enough to call the dr. or anything, but it was a little weird. I think it's tough in the hotter weather to stay hydrated enough, and sometimes when I'm tired, I'm more prone to muscle spasms. I figured it was more a muscle related problem, for me, than anything baby related. The baby was moving a lot, too, so it's possible that the uterine muscles were just tired of getting kicked :) If I could have left work to lie down for a few hours, I think that would have fixed it. Unfortunately, my work motto is 'Stay awake stay employed' :) so I had to stick it out until quitting time.

PS I'm more than 35 :p (raspberry at myself, not you!) I certainly don't feel it, FWIW - I credit staying active and refusing to acknowledge the actual number!!! :)

PPS One of my presents was a beauty product called a one-minute miracle manicure. It's a sea-salt scrub with oils that you massage into your hands for 60 seconds then rinse. OH MY HEAVENS! It is FANTASTIC! I told DH that I hope it wasn't too expensive because I'm going to need a constant supply! I did my feet, too, and just wish there was something that made my whole body feel as good! Just wanted to share - if you see it, TRY IT!! :) If you all lived closer I'd bring it around so you could feel it too... Anyone want to come over?

Hi everyone! I must say for at least the 3rd time... reading this board is so inspirational. When I feel like just camping out on the couch with a pint of ice cream instead of working out, I look at what everyone else did for the week and it gets me going. :)

I had my second ultrasound a week ago today, and it's a...
...
...
...
boy!

My husband was very happy to see that. I was just happy to see that the baby was looking healthy.

This has to be quick, I'll post more comments/questions later. Here were my workouts for last week, which wasn't one of my best weeks exercise-wise:

Sun: Unplanned rest day
Mon: 1 mile walk, 35 min. elliptical
Tue: Supersets
Wed: 2 mile walk, 35 min. elliptical
Thu: Rest
Fri: Cardio and Weights
Sat: Traveled to NYC to visit my family

I just got back from NYC today (Tuesday). Lots of walking around. I'll be sleeping well tonight! More later...

Adrienne--congrats on the healthy-looking boy!

Gracenote--Happy Birthday to you! (and I did not know that this :p was a rasberry--it's my favorite smiley because it looks like its saying, "i'm so silly"--now I'm afraid I've offended people--oops :+ :+ ) I hope you are feeling better.

Dana--long cooking/freezing/canning sessions certainly feel like a workout to me. They are exhausting.

Kristan--how far along are you? I'm 20 weeks and very afraid of Boot Camp right now--definitely waiting for post partum. Kudos for trying it.

Melani--the more kids I have, the less "natural" I am about things. I do epidurals now. I didn't for the first 2. Did pain meds for the 3rd and 4 and beyond, epidurals!!! I did not find out the gender for the first 4, but now I want to, especially because I had very little girl stuff left--there will be almost 7 years between this DD and the next DD up. And my husband says absolutely NO WAY to home birth, so I'm not even going to argue about that. I still insist on tearing rather than having an episiotomy, however:)

take care everyone
Maggie

Maggie -

I'm not positive that :p is a raspberry...I guess I just thought that's what it looked like to me...how funny! Now I have to wonder what people have thought whenever I've used it :7

I feel behind the electronic times, but we got an MP3 player today - I'd ordered it Sunday and it showed up on the doorstep this morning! I am so amazed at how far things have come - I didn't get much loaded on it (took me too long to figure it out) but it's the size of a cigarette lighter and can hold almost 200 songs. It weighs next to nothing and is a breeze to use. I did an hour on the treadmill tonight and even jogged a bit (I'm a little braver when I don't have as far to go to get back home :) ) I can't wait to start putting together real workout playlists.

I got another bday present today - it's a gift cert for something called the Dinner Pantry. I have never heard of this before, but it sounds perfect for preparing for the new baby - I get to pick 6 meals off the menu (things like calzones, lasagna, pork chops, chicken kiev, etc) and then make an appt to go over for a few hours some weekend. Apparently I walk in, they show me to a 'pantry' where recipes and all the ingredients for my ordered meals are waiting for me. I put the meals together and store in the provided pre-labled foil containers and pack 'em off to my home freezer. When we want dinner, we defrost and bake. Each meal feeds 4-6 people, so I'll have a week's worth of dinners plus leftovers stocked up and waiting... Kind of neat! They have complimentary snacks and beverages, and do all the clean up - now if only I could drink some wine ;-) They say they get a lot of singles, older people and some clubs that do it every quarter or so as a group activity. Seems like fun, at any rate! Has anyone ever heard of this or done it?

There's a few places around here that offer that. I've never done it (it's pricey around here), but I know a lot of people that get together and assemble/drink. In fact, my husband's niece works at a place called Time for Dinner where she chops up stuff for the customers to assemble. have fun!

Maggie- I am 30 weeks, but my efforts at Boot Camp were submaximum and definitely modified.

I introduced myself a few weeks ago to this board, but then dropped off the planet.

I am embarrassed to admit that I am a sloth these days. I've been so nauseous that the idea of exercise has me exhausted!!

I'm starting to feel a bit better, which is a welcome change :)

I had my 8 week check up on Friday. I've only gained 2 pounds so far, so I'm quite happy about that (and I got weighed after eating a slice of veggie pizza and drinking a lot of water LOL!).

I'm planning to do a low impact workout tonight. In addition to battling nauseau, I haven't worked out since August 7. So I guess I need to ease back into fitness. I'm thinking Basic Step.

Does anyone have a Pilates or yoga for pregnancy video to recommend? I'm in the market.

Allison
