Rotator cuff injury

Wondering if anyone on the forum has injured their rotator cuff? I can't get in to the doctor til April 19th. I am afraid to lift any amount of weight on that shoulder. I need to know what I can do at home to rehab it. I don't think it is really bad b/c it only hurts when I move it certain ways. I gotta get it fixed though, cause it is interfering with my workouts!! Help please!!

I tore my supraspinatus rotator cuff completely off the bone, needed surgery to reattach it and followed up with 9 months of physical therapy. When I finally got the OK to start strength training, I started with a tuna can! That was 5 years ago and I have regained 99% ROM and 100%+ in strength.

If I can offer any advice it would be to rest that shoulder until you can see the doctor. I learned the hard way NOT to work through the pain. I know it is hard....I was 1 week away from my black belt exam when my injury happened and it put an end to 6 long years of training! Follow your doctors orders on what you can do physically during rehab and be faithful to your physical therapy exercises if prescribed.

Good luck!

Thank you, it is good to know you are almost perfectly rehabbed. That must have been tough about your black belt plus surgery and 9 months of rehab!!! I just can't hardly stand it but I used 5 and 8 lb weights last week and know I can't do it right now. I wish doc appt was tomorrow!!!
