Rotations question

Cathlete
I'm sure this has been addressed before, but I wasn't around by that time. I have noticed that the Rotations that you/Cathe are/is posting are a series of weeks in which you do something different in each one. I used to believe that a rotation was composed of several weeks in which you do the same each week. I am not complaining, because I like variety. I just wonder if there is a specific reason for that, other than the variety factor. For example, is it a more effective way to train?

I posted this in the Rotations forum also.
Thanks for your input.

I'm no expert but I think the variety is just for the boredom busting factor.

As long as you are doing the correct type of workouts to fit into that rotation's "goal" then you don't have to use several different work outs.

I prefer to use just a few different work outs to keep it simple and then in my next rotation I will use a whole new set of work outs.

For instance, right now, in my rotation I am only using 3 different dvd work outs that include step and toning plus my gazelle. My main focus is cardio so every work out is spent doing step aerobics or using the gazelle with only a few days per week where some toning/weight training is added in.

Hope this helps!:)

Hi Mariela,

I also believe it's done for the bordom busting factor. I do my own rotations. I do the same rotation for 4 weeks. I change my rotation every 4 weeks. It allows for me to really get used to the tape and rotation esp. if i am doing tapes i've never done before. I switch every 4 weeks as to not get bored and to keep shocking my body.

hope this helps

Wendy, I'm not sure if I didn't understand you or if you didn't understand me. But, just in case: What I mean is that in the rotations that Cathe is posting, every week looks different (regardless of how many videos/DVD's). I used to see rotations here (and do my own) that looked exactly the same for every week of the rotation length. For example:

week 1:

monday:S&H Chest & Back
tuesday:S$H triceps + 1/2 hour cardio
wednesday: S&H legs + 200 walking lunges
thursday: S&H shoulders + 1/2 hour cardio
friday: S&H biceps + 1/2 hour cardio
saturday: OFF
sunday: OFF

Week 2:
exactly the same

week 3:
exactly the same

week 4:
exactly the same

In the rotations that Cathe is posting, each week differs from the others.

Oh okay! lol Yes, I misunderstood you. Sorry about that. But I still think it may just be to stop the boredom of having to do the same work outs every week for a month...
