I am planning to ditch the $80 cable bill soon. I am getting an antenna for my big tv so I can pick up all the network stations in HD over the air. I already have Netflix and Hulu, but am looking for a more integrated way of getting them to the tv. I can stream Netlfix via the Wii, but Hulu would have to be done over the computer, and frankly, I don't want to be tied to a laptop or desktop when I'm watching tv.
I am looking at getting either a Roku or Boxee. I am leaning towards the Roku since they already have Netflix and Hulu + in their lineup. Boxee does not, and seems to be having issues with this.
Boxee has a ton of channels to use, but frankly after looking at them, I'm not sure I'd watch most of them. This is kind of the same deal with cable. All these channels, but you REALLY only watch a few. Roku does not have quite as many channels, but they still have some good content.
The main reason I haven't ditched cable before is channels like Discover, A&E, and the History channel. I really like these, but in reality, I don't watch them most of the time....more like when I'm just surfing the channels in the evening. I think the hardest part in getting rid of cable is the mental part of it....have had it for a long time, so how can you live without it????
