rock climbing wall at home...

OK, I am sitting around home sick today accomplishing nothing except I have added to my workout/recreation want list...a rock climbing wall at home!!

Wouldn't that be so cool? This online article made me think of it:

SO PEOPLE...if money weren't the issue, what addition would YOU make to your home for fun workout/recreation variety? Think BIG...

I saw that one too and emailed my DH to ask if we can get one...he was like "yeah sure", but hey I think it would be soooo cool to have one of those.

I would stash the real Cathe in my closet;)

The rock wall climbing at home isn't that extravagent.

LL Beans kid store in Freeport Maine had a rock wall climbing "tread mill" the kids never got more than 3 feet off of the floor the wall was controlled by light beams.

If you have a tall house you could mount the hand/foot holds on the outside walls, I've seen it done. They even sell self belaying devices.

My extravagent exercise equipment would be the swimming pool treadmill. It runs a water current across the top of the pool to keep you in place so you don't need an olympic size pool to do laps.

My house would be bigger so I could have/design a large fitness room. I would have a flat screen TV with the best sound system. The proper flooring, the High step, a treadmill and cardio coach CD's, an eliptical trainer, a new step, a new stability ball, colored dumbells (just for fun), weight plates, the step Cathe uses in the Pyramids, a new barbell set (nice and light like the one Cathe uses in many of her workouts), Power 90X with all necessary equipment...that's just a start if money were no option.

I would love to have a fully functional gym in my home, just on a smaller scale...

Professional aerobic flooring with plenty of space to do Cathe! Mirrored walls to check form.
A good variety of gym quality weight machines
A full rack of dumbbells
A barbell with a full range of plates
A treadmill or 2
An elliptical trainer
A bike

Yeah, I want a "mini" gym in my home!:+

It may not be "extravagent" but it requires faaar too much space and $$$$$$$$ for me to acquire in THIS lifetime so for me, it's just a dream....

Edited to Add:

Oh, and lets not forget the personal trainer who will create rotations for me and will work with me on a daily basis to make sure I get MAXIMUM results!}(

I'll take everything mentioned above. A friend of mine built a tree playhouse for his boys in the backyard. He made a climbing wall for them to use to climb up into it.

If money and space were no issue then:

1) 25m swimming pool (outdoor in the summer, converts to indoor in the winter) with a 1m spring board (complete with a pool cleaning and maintenance service)

2) rock climbing treadmill...I used this at the Marsh near Minneapolis. It was amazing you never get very far off the ground so when you're exhausted from climbing you just fall a few feet to the mat even though you've climbed the equivalent of 100s of feet

3) I have no idea what it's called but it's a martial art trainer. There's a large triangle on the floor. On each point is a post with angled sides with squares on it. You hold a long stick (similar to a hockey stick without the blade). You hear a sound and tap the square which lights up. Every time you hear a sound you pivot and tap the lit square. As you progress the pace gets faster and faster. It's super cool! Again I got to do this at the Marsh.

4) A floating aerobic floor large enough for me to practice my jazz dance routines.

Now I want all of the above!!

Hey Dave, the rock climbing wall I WANT is extravagant.:7
I'm not too secure on the treadmill rockwall thing. I want to move, not the earth beneath me move.:)
