Road Trippers,
We have recommendations for you on what to bring for the weekend, and on what to bring to Cathe’s gym. Sorry this is so long, but it's pretty important stuff, so PRINT THIS POST and read it carefully.
I am sending this out via e-mail to all of you as well (since we have some attendees who are not Forums members or regulars).
What to Pack for the Whole Weekend (FIRST RULE: Pack light!)
• Gym clothes and shoes for each Cathe class you plan to attend (a maximum of four, one of which is kickboxing)
• Your lifting gloves and/or wraps (optional, of course)
• Very casual street clothes for Saturday afternoon (briefly), Saturday night and Sunday
• Small collapsible (soft-sided) gym bag
• PJ’s and a robe (in case we’re wandering the hotel halls “visiting” each other ;-))
• Toiletries, makeup, hair clasps, etc.
• Hair dryer
• Camera and film
• Anything you want Cathe to autograph (e.g., your Cathe hat, your DVDs or VHS tapes)
• A few quarters
• One or two towels (optional)
• Refillable water bottle (optional)
What to Bring to Cathe’s Gym
• Bring everything to the gym in your small, collapsible gym bag
• A few quarters
• Your wallet (for Saturday afternoon and to buy Cathe gear and videos!)
• Gym clothes (Saturday, you’ll need up to three sets; Sunday, just one outfit) and shoes
• Lifting gloves and/or wraps (optional)
• Hair clasps
• Refillable water bottle (optional)
• Anything you want Cathe to autograph
• Camera
• One set of street clothes (oh-so-casual)
• Hair dryer
• Towel(s)
• Toiletries (e.g., face moisturizer and deodorant), makeup (totally optional!)
• Socks or VERY soft-soled shoes to wear for the Pizza DJ Party (NO HARD-SOLED SHOES IN THE PIZZA PARTY ROOM, PLEASE – Let’s preserve Cathe’s floors!)
Now, a little more info about the facilities at Cathe’s gym and our usage of them. We’re a large group and we do present some logistical challenges.
Cathe’s gym is very large (see their website --- www.hugeclub.com) and it is still open to its members all weekend, despite our presence. Cathe has invited your husbands or SO’s traveling with you to use the gym facilities free of charge throughout the weekend, too. We’ll give you more details soon on how they can get their “free passes.” For the moment, what’s important to note is that we are all going to be sharing locker room space, lockers and other facilities with the gym’s members.
In the locker rooms there are nice showers with soap and shampoo, but there are NO hair dryers. Cathe’s gym offers a limited number of towels for rent. We suggest that you bring a towel or two from home or from the hotel, if you don’t want to rent one at Cathe’s place.
The gym has small lockers that are available for rent for 25 cents – you put in a quarter in to a slot so that the locker “releases” a key to you, and then you use the key (obviously) to lock up your gear. These lockers are not large enough to store anything bulky.
With that situation in mind, Cathe has arranged for us to use the lockable personal trainers’ circuit room to store our gear while we take classes or otherwise use the gym. If she can find someone to serve as a door guard, Cathe will station that person outside the room with the key so that we can get in at any time to gain access to our gear. If Cathe can’t find someone to be the door guard, she’ll hang onto the key to that room herself, but obviously she won’t be able to run back and forth to open the door every few minutes. Cathe suggests that if she's the one carrying around the trainers' room key, we should rent one of the 25-cent lockers for the storage of valuables (wallet, cell phone, car keys, jewelry) and any other “frequent grab” items. We think that's a great idea in any case.
Finally, a very important note: Cathe and her gym cannot be responsible for your belongings if they are not locked up. Your valuables are your responsibility, so please don’t set them down or leave them lying around in the gym. Make sure that they are locked in the trainer’s circuit room or are locked in a locker.
I think that’s it for now. If anything about these logistics changes you know we'll let you know. As always, e-mail me, Debbie or Lorrayne with your questions, and we’ll do our best to answer them for you. Wow -- see you in three weeks, kids!!!!!!!
