Road Trip Questions

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
Cathe is asking for input on dates for the next Cathe Road Trip (July or August). I have mixed emotions about this. I have been waiting for an announcement about this, so I am excited. :7 I would love to meet Cathe and as many of you as possible. :7 I am also feeling a little insecure about this. :-( I am not sure if I can get my butt in shape by then. Is everyone who attends in awe-inspiring shape? I know that Laura and Shelley and Wendy and Carole are fit and beautiful (as are many of the others I have seen). I am just wondering if any “average” people attend or if I will feel hopelessly out of place. :-( Is there a maximum butt load capacity for this thing?! ;-) Is anyone else planning to go alone for the first time? I know that most of you already know each other from the last trip.

Is it hot in New Jersey in July? :7 I have never ventured that far north of the sweet tea line before! :7 How much money do I need to save between now and then for registration, food, and accommodations? Which airport is close to Cathe’s place so I can get an estimate of what airfare will cost?

It is time for my workout. Cathe is waiting for me! :)

Blessings,
Heather B.

Well, I can only answer the NJ questions as I have never been on a road trip before. Yes, it is hot in July (August too). There are two airports (relatively) close to Glassboro. The biggest is Philadelphia International Airport the other which usually has cheaper flights is Atlantic City. I hope this helps.:)

Heather
It’s a get together for people that have Cathe in common, and a desire to improve, health wise and in their physical appearance. There are all types of people that enjoy Cathe’s DVD’s. People who are at all different levels. 99.9% will support you no matter what. Go and enjoy yourself. Learn what you can and bring it home with you.

"Is it hot in New Jersey in July?" Oh YES!

HEATHER!!! You must go. There are women of all shapes and sizes and I can guarantee that it will be one of the most wonderful experiences of your life! I made so many amazing friends last year and had a most incredible time. I was nervous as you know what before getting there and meeting everyone, but the atmosphere couldn't have been more welcoming.

Do not hesitate. As soon as that announcement is posted, SIGN UP!

:)

Oh, and yes, it was hot as Hades and humid last year. But we weren't outside much:p

Oh, I'll reply to some of the other questions you asked. Philly is the closest airport to Cathe's gym. Last year the RT itself was around $169. The hotel most of us stayed in has been torn down (not a moment too soon:p), and I shared with 3 other people, but I think the coordinators negotiated us a room rate of somewhere around $120 a night. Sharing with strangers is fun. Believe me! As for meals and such, someone else will have to remind me if they were included. I think they were but there were a couple of small things we paid for, and of course Cathe merchandise at the gym:)

It was worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY!

(Can you tell I had a good time?)

Hi Heather:

When I went in 05, I flew into Philadelphia. If I remember the hotel was about $75.00 to $80 a night and I shared a room with 2 other women, so that cost was split into thirds. I can't remember how much the Roadtrip itself cost. We did 4 workouts with Cathe. 3 on Sat. and 1 on Sunday. Pizza Party was included in the cost, the other meals we had to pay for ourselves. They did collect the money for Sat. Lunch and Sunday Breakfast before we ate, so they could pay the restaurants all at once.

When I went last time, I had never met anyone before and I wasn't on the boards, so I really didn't even know who I was meeting.

As for who attended, check out the road trip pictures thread and you'll see that everyone was different. The one thing we shared was a love for Cathe and her workouts.

Here's the itinerary from an email I had in my archives from the 05 trip.

FRIDAY:
Welcome Party at Ramada Hotel Banquet Room...time to be announced(this will be held in a reserved banquet room exclusively for the Roadtrip attendees to gather and get to know one another. Noshies will be available and ice breaker and video trivia games will help you relax and enjoy! Come ready to laugh and play!

By the way, during the night, 10 lucky Roadtrippers will win an opportunity to step on the set with Cathe and Cast on Saturday afternoon and do a 5 minute mini step workout (2 of you at a time). Be sure to bring your video or digital camera and have one of your roadtrip buddies film this exciting workout for you.

SATURDAY:
8:00am...meet and greet Cathe and Cast plus have a tour of new facility and filming studio.

9:00am...Photographer comes to do one big group shot of the July 2005 Cathe Roadtrip Cast

9:30am ..Step Class (send me your favorite moves and I will create a workout using 10 of them).

10:30am .. Shower and get ready for lunch

11:30am ...Our group gathers to go to lunch (maybe some pictures while waiting)

12 noon.....Lunch at Italian Affair just 600 yards away in the neighboring shopping center. Socializing/pic's/autographes/food fights(just kidding) are all welcome while we munch out and laugh at how great we were in step class (or, how bad we messed up, Cathe included, ha)

2:15pm....15 Minutes Of Fame...we go to filming studio for pictures and then have our 10 lucky winners from Friday night step on set (two at a time) and do a mini step routine with Cathe and Cast. Have your cameras ready!

3:15pm.......Sculpting Class (weights and stability ball) This is the perfect class to have while you are still somewhat digesting lunch.

4:30pm....Optional tour of Sony factory (we still have not received a final response from Sony's availablity to do this) to see where DVD's are made. If not then we can do our team fitness relay here which will keep all of you working in groups and against the clock while laughing hysterically. You won't believe the things we will have you doing

600pm ...45 minute Kickbox class

7:30pm........DJ NIGHT PIZZA PARTY........Yes, you heard right, DJ NIGHT...Our very own Marke Moore from Boot Camp is one of the finest DJ's around and will MC our entire night plus keep you jammin' on the dance(fitness)floor...(no heels please, our fitness floor can't handle it, sneaks or barefeet are fine)....We'll also do raffles/pictures/giveaways/Cathe road trip t-shirts etc. We are even considering doing American Idol Cast Member Auditions.......WHAT A HOOT THIS WOULD BE!!! I will judge along with either our Cast members or the coordinators. This is also something that we can do in place of going to the Sony factory. By the way, you will not hurt our feelings if you prefer not to go to the factory tour. As it stands right now, we are not even sure if they can accomodate a group of this size for a tour.

10:30 or 11pm........back to hotels

SUNDAY:
7:00am....Early Bird Workout.....High Step Class

8:30am....Gather to head over to diner

9:00 am ...Good Bye Breakfast at 5 Points Diner

11am........Everyone lingers in the parking lot reluctantly saying their goodbyes and yes, even shedding tears (bring your tissues). Time to head home, sniff sniff!

Now of course this year will probably have different plans, but I just wanted to give an idea of what we did last time.

Heather, I think if there is just ONE person on the forums that everyone would like to meet, it's YOU!! You go and have fun, ya hear? Nobody cares what you look like, we all just like YOU, as is:*

Hi Heather,

I see several have already responded to your post. As you see, people who attend are all shapes and sizes. Not only this, but participants vary in fitness levels as well. Please don't feel nervous.

Regarding the getting in shape comment. Just think of this. You now have a target date to get in the shape you want.

Those who attend these road trips are all wonderful and friendly people. I really enjoyed meeting everyone during the last road trip. It was such an awesome experience. :D

Sweet Heather..YOU BETTER GO!!!! I would be so happy and blessed to meet you...:)....I had to miss the last one and I made myself a promise to go to any future ones. In my years of running races I have meet so many people of various ages and sizes with one main goal, to feel good about themselves. I have no doubt a Cathe Road Trip would be any different. And to meet Cathe and so many of the funny, warm hearted and caring poeple on this forum....I am just so excited.... :+ :7 :)

If anyone deserves to go, Heather, it's you!! Just keep in mind that while it will be HOT in Jersey in July/August, it can't be as hot as it is down here in the South in the summer!!!;-) I know for myself, that I am going to try my hardest to get off of work and go, if for nothing else but great fellowship!!! I know that I am not in the best shape I can be, but I am 'a work in progress' and strive each day to make it such! As I know you do!!

Michele, what a sweet post! I had doubts myself about going. I'm afraid everyone will be in better shape than I. But, you know what? Who cares? I think it'll be a blast! So, c'mon, lets do it! BTW, NJ can be hot, and soooo humid in July!

I've had many of these questions myself. Not only might I not be as ripped or able to run 400 miles, but I have two left feet and will be guaranteed to look like Benny Hill or Mr. Bean doing step aerobics.

This is my concern too. It's hard enough for me to work out at home. The thought of my clumsy self doing step in front of others makes me cringe. And I know that I won't be able to keep up since I am fairly new to step workouts. I'll just have to experience this vicariously through those of you that go :).

For those with two left feet, Cathe was absolutely wonderful last time. She gave the coordinators a heads up on some of the moves she was going to use in the step workout and they were able to let us know on the Friday night at the GTG. Then on Saturday morning, she ran through each combo with us several times until we got it, and only then did we actually do the workout. It was so helpful.

And even though the walls of the studio have a bunch of mirrors, I can guarantee you that everyone is so busy looking at Cathe (and Cedie!), and trying not to screw up themselves that you could plie jack yourself straight onto your face and only the person right behind you would probably notice. ;-)

The best part? Cathe actually messed up during the step routine and forgot what came next. Maybe she even did it on purpose? If so it was brilliant, and if not it was a brilliant accident because we all felt okay about screwing up after Cathe did:p

Please come Heather! I for one would love to meet, in person, the sweetness that pours out of your posts:)

And, Mattea, how about that kickbox workout? Where she had us all running in circles around the gym? Fabulous! And then we got to suggest combos too.:) And that long, drawn-out groan during the push-ups off the ball in the sculpt workout that had us all killing ourselves laughing?

Yes, you have to go. All of you.:)
