Road Trip - Kathy S.

Kathy,

You mentioned that you were "wait-listed" on one of the road trips to Glassboro. For that reason, I'd like to suggest, if you aren't already doing it, that you start a list of those who want to go. If there isn't enough room for everybody, I think it should be on a first-come basis. If you're coordinating such a list, please be sure to include our little New York group of IGTmayo, KathyH, Soofit, Gretzky and me. Thanks so much for volunteering to be our fearless leader! :D It's gonna be fun!!

I want to go also! I'll even put aside my fear of doing new step routines outside my room (where other people could see me)! I can't wait!

Road trip, road trip, road trip....!!!!

ME! ME! ME! (that's me raising my hand, saying I want to go!!)

Hi everyone -- re: road trip

WOW! :7 I'm sure Cathe will be tickled pink to see how much excitement the date-to-be-determined road trip is already creating!

I don't want us to get the cart ahead of the horse here in any way, folks. Cathe has said that she'd love to have us visit, but first her new facility needs to be completed and then she needs to schedule our road trip into her very hectic life on a weekend when she can guarantee her presence (no small feat ;-)). (By the way, how many of us can go will also be determined by the capacity of Cathe's new facility, which is still a work in progress.) I do not want Cathe to feel pressured or rushed by us in any way, and I'm positive you all agree with me on that. We're coming when Cathe's ready. So -- as much as I'd like to officially launch the kick-off of road trip registration, I can't, yet. I know, I know -- it's tough to be patient!! :)

Right now, though, I will make two promises to all of you wonderful Cathe-ites: First, the MINUTE I am able to launch the registration process, you'll hear about it on these forums, loud and clear. (And yes, I will officially announce the trip here, at Cathe.com. This time around the trip is being led by Cathe Forums members although VFers will certainly not be excluded!) Second, I will set up the registration in a manner that is fair and even-handed and that Cathe approves and with which she's comfortable, so that everybody who wants to attend has a fair shot at "getting in." (I haven't talked to Cathe about this yet, but rest assured I will.)

There are a lot of ways to structure a fair registration process, and those of you who know me at all can be sure that, true to my obsessive-with-detail nature, I will exhaustively examine all options to ensure that we choose the very fairest option. This week I've already put several hours into investigating how the past VF road trips were organized, including registration. Although some people (like me) missed the "can go" list every time, my sense is that the VF membership never questioned the fundamental fairness of the system that was used to determine who got to go. So that seems to me to be a decent place to start exploring how to go about setting up our registration "right." I do NOT mean to suggest that we will necessarily duplicate the VF system, but I DO mean to tell you that I am trying not to ignore a good system that worked in the past and that might work fairly for us.

Let's all try to stay excited about this trip but kinda cool our jets at the same time, and let's focus for the moment on getting physically ready for what will be a fabulous weekend! That's my mission statement for myself, anyway! :)

Thank you, everyone!!!!:+ :+

RE: Hi everyone -- re: road trip

Good call Kathy! We don't want to get ahead of ourselves or put any unnecessary pressure on Cathe. In the meantime, we will have to find other positive outlets for our excitement. Hmm, maybe a Cathe workout?!?!?

Hopefully, there will be room for everyone who wishes to go. Like you said, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Finally- you have intrigued me! How did you go about using italics and bold in your post?

Gina

RE: Hi everyone -- re: road trip

Kathy-

Please accept my apology for starting this. I should have realized you would have done it yourself if it warranted doing. Folks, please let my post be the last post on this and we'll let this thread fade away...

Hi Gina!

I am really a novice at using HTML code, but "Bold" and "Italic" are pretty simple. I'm sure "Font" and "Color" are really easy too, but I haven't learned them yet. When I do I'll let you know. :)

For "Bold", you will book-end the text that you want to put into boldface as follows: Right before the text begins, insert a full set of brackets with a capital "B" inside, with no spaces. (I have to give you these detailed instructions because if I simply typed the brackets and the "B" here, everything following it would be in boldface and you wouldn't see the brackets onscreen -- the software treats them as code, not text.) To end the bolding, go to the end of your text and put another set of brackets with a forward slash followed immediately by a capital "B" inside, no spaces. In other words, inside your brackets you'd have this: /B.

To do italics, simply replace the "B" with "I".

You can also do both, by putting both sets of brackets in front of your text and behind your text.

To see if you've done it correctly, hit "Preview message" and take a look at your post before you "finalize" it.

Hope this helps! -- have fun playing with it! ;-)

RE: Hi Gina!

Thank you so much Kathy!

I use a system called Blackboard for school, and now I see that the codes are the same, except Blackboard uses "< and >" instead of "[ and ]".

If anyone is interested, I can email you a word document with detailed instructions that I made for a friend in class. I just changed the book-ends. If you don't wish to share your email address on the boards, you can email me privately at [email protected].

[marquee]Have a good day everyone!!![/marquee]

I am obviously getting carried away lol!

RE: Bumping this for Gina!

Hi Kathy,

I'm just checking the boards now. Sorry to keep you in suspense lol! I just emailed you.

Some notes- the codes can be typed with upper or lower case letters- both work. As far as colors, I know that maroon, navy, blue, green, orange, brown, yellow, black, pink, olive, magenta, and purple work- still experimenting on any others.
