Road Trip Check-in for Sunday, April 8, 2007

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
Good morning, Road Trippers! Happy Easter to all who celebrate and a blessed Sunday to everyone! I’m dreaming of a white Easter! It snowed in Central Texas all day yesterday! The beautiful bluebonnets were wearing big white hats. I wish I had my camera with me yesterday while I was out playing in the snow because it is already melting. That is Texas for you. If you do not like the weather here, just wait 5 minutes! It does not usually snow in Central Texas. We get ice storms, hailstorms, and tornados, but not snow. I was delighted to see snow yesterday. It was the highlight of my day.

I was missing in action last week. I stepped away from the computer for a week to focus on prayer and preparation for a Good Friday outreach. It was an amazing experience. I will never be the same. You can read about my experience in this thread if you are interested:

Now that my Good Friday mission project has been accomplished, it is time to start officially training for the Cathe Road Trip! My game plan involves a 16-week fat blasting rotation that will get me through the end of July. I know myself well enough to know that I will be too excited to focus on anything other than shopping for new clothes and shoes when August arrives! I am planning to focus on 2 weeks of workouts at a time. This is my general game plan:

Sunday morning - step or interval step + abs/core (Cathe)
Monday morning - cardio plus lower body or lower body circuit (Cathe)
Tuesday morning - cardio plus upper body or upper body circuit (Cathe)
Wednesday morning - kickboxing (Cathe)
Thursday morning - total body circuit (Cathe)
Friday morning - stretching (Cathe)
Saturday morning - hi-lo (Kari or Christi) plus functional fitness (Jen or Tracie)
evenings - jogging in the pool or rebounding as desired

I was hoping to start this last Sunday, but my body was too tired to move after a week of sleepless nights during my recovery week. I did bless my body with more sleep last week and starting feeling alert and oriented again. I got my Cathe fix with Low Impact Step and Total Body Stretching, and I started running in the pool at the club again. I also did a few sessions of rebounding, but it was another active recovery week other than that. I decided to get back on track with my sleep schedule instead of going through the motions of my workouts. I am glad I did because I am ready to enjoy Rhythmic Step before church this morning. Oh, I dropped the 4 pounds I gained the previous week. I am officially 50 pounds below my top weight and 80 pounds above my goal weight. My before pictures are in my photo album, and Cathe is waiting for me!

My game plan for eating involves planning menus a week in advance and packing my meals and snacks every night for the next day. I see consistent results when I do this. I decided to enjoy one treat meal or snack every week. Of course, all my efforts to enjoy a treat yesterday were completely frustrated. I think God was trying to tell me something. See this thread if you want a good laugh:

http://69.0.137.118/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=9&topic_id=48307&mesg_id=48307&page=

Here is my blurb for the day: I love ladybugs. :7 They delight me and minister to me. :7 When I see a ladybug, I realize how much God cares about the smallest details of my life because He took the time to decorate the backs of ladybugs. :7 People love to give me ladybug gifts. Years ago, I was struggling. A friend in another part of the country called to tell me that she was praying for me because there was a ladybug invasion in her area! She just knew that she needed to pray for me.

Train hard this week! We are training for the Road Trip and will be enjoying brunch with Cathe 18 weeks from this morning! :9

Blessings,
Heather B.

Happy Easter, Road Trippers! :)

We picked up a little bit of snow flurries here yesterday afternoon, not enough to lay. If I remember correctly I was wearing shorts around Christmas time, now I have on sweats & a Jacket...what is going on :)

I had to LOL about the blueberry muffin story, too funny!

I have started to plan out my workouts & eating plan for the week. This will be my 1st week on the BFL plan...wish me luck :)

Sunday - UB Pyramid Workout - Free-Style
Monday - HIIT Training (Blasts from SB 2 times)
Tues - LB Pyramid Workout - Free Style
Weds - HIIT
Thurs - UB
Friday - HIIT
Satur- LB

Lets see how long it takes for me to get bored with this type of workout. I did free-style LB on Saturday, and I was bored to tears...(I even put the radio on full-blast :)). I guess I needed my Cathe kick b/c I put in one of her DVD's and watched it afterwards...Crazy, huh? :)
Saturday's workout was HIIT Training, I did IMAX 3 blast only, boy is this tough, but a great workout! I like the idea of getting in a good cardio workout in 20 minutes.

Eating my last snack, well until my Cheat Day next weekend. Coffee & Doughnut, boy I'm bad w/ the doughnuts, aren't I? :9

Take Care - Have a Blessed Holiday~!!

Happy Easter morning to Heather and all who follow!

I did MM lower body this morning. Short & sweet. I am sitting at the computer looking at the snow. No accumulation, just flurries. Planning on having a nice relaxing day.

Heather, I read your posts yesterday. The outreach sounds amazing; and the treat fiasco-wow-I think I would have just gone back to bed. Glad you enjoyed your snow. It sounds like you are really back on track & motivated. It inspired me and made me realize it will be here before we know it. Hooray!!

My blurb-I love all animals, but am especially a cat person. I have 3 kitties. Two of them are brother and sister and just turned 16 years old this week (they've been with me since they were babies). One is a stray I rescued about 2 years ago, who has definitely livened up the household:D

I am wondering how Cheryl's kickboxing test went?

Hope everyone has a wonderful day:)

Hey Jennifer,
Sorry I missed you we were posting at the same time.

What is the BFL plan? I like to watch Cathe too, like when on the treadmill. I used to be addicted to Dunkin Donuts strawberry iced BAD. One day I went and got about a dozen and ate so many it made me kind of sick. Probably not recommended, but it cured my addiction:D

Have a great day!

Kara

Good morning! It’s odd to look outside and see the drooping heads of daffodils under the blanket of snow.

Heather – thanks for sharing your experiences. I love your idea of working hard until August 1 then looking for workout suits and shoes :) . The rotation is challenging and quite a great plan. Thanks for the inspiration!

Jennifer – LOL when I read your needing a Cathe kick! Wish I was wearing shorts today as I recall Christmas! Nice and warmmmmmm. I’m a W. PA girl. Your more central PA? Today was my first time with IMAX3 blast only x( !

Kara- I love cats but :-( have allergies, so I have an English Setter. You are so lucky to have 3! Are they the type of cats that like to play or the more subtle lay around types? They tend to have unique personalities.

Blurb – I rode my bicycle up through my 7th month of pregnancy on our local rail trail. After she was born I was back on the bike with DD in tow at 6 months. I love to ride bicycle with my family. DD is 5 now and rides on her own. DH is spin instructor at YMCA and cycles to work 9 months a year.

Happy Sunday to all and enjoy your day!

Good morning and A very Happy Easter!

Heather... I can't get over your experiences. I was in tears reading about your experiences. Alms giving... something people rarley do but truly the most amazing part of Lent, is something I try and teach my chldren. I plan to let them read your post so they can see how far you can go to make a difference in people's lives. Thanks so much for sharing that. I am planning to become part of a "Kairos" team with our church. This is a team of women who spend the weekend at a women's prison here in upstate NY and bring prayer and fellowship to willing inmates who are in need of faith in their lives. I am very excited about this and your story inspires me even to do more! Keep up the good work. ( BTW, your "treat" story was hilarious!)

So, as soon as I am done here I plan to make my way to the basement and do LIC. I have to say that I am so very tired, and even a bit sore, and really should take a rest day. I strugggle so much with taking rest days. Some months I only take one or two days off from working out. I know this is bad, but even though I know I should, I fight myself and force myself to work out. I lost 125 pounds almost 6 years ago and have completely turned my life around to a healthy one.I even teach cardio/sculpt classes now and just scheduled the test for my personal training certification. I would never tell a client to work out 7 days per week, and yet my internal struggle is constant. Every day I wake up in fear of gaining the weight back, and it is exhausting at times. Anyway, just wondering if any of you have these same issues?

Anyway, to all of you, enjoy your day!

Peace,

Happy Easter roadtrippers! I hope you are all having a special day!

Vicki- There are many many women on these forums, myself included, who completely understand your struggles re: taking a rest day and fear of gaining back lost weight. It is very hard for me to relax and enjoy a rest day. Personally, I try to schedule a rest day when I am really busy with other matters, or between 12 hr shifts when it's difficult to fit in a workout anyway. Your story is an amazing one and I just want to let you know you are not alone! When are you testing for your PT cert?

Jennifer- Congratulations on making the big decision and going for the BFL plan. I've known a few people who have had great success with this. BTW... I didn't see a rest day scheduled! It sounds like a pretty intense schedule with no time for your body to recuperate!

Kara- You have a very interesting addiction cure;-) Another kitty lover here! In fact, I have one in front of me right now getting in the wayx(

Amy- You have quite a biking family!!! Do you ever do any races?

Yesterday I had a great long challenging hill run of 13 miles.
Today will be a nice short relaxing 4 miler, and then BBCs Chest and Abs. I'll celebrate Easter by working tonight:( Oh well, someone has to!

Take care

ShellyC

ShellyC - Oops, I must of missed that, thanks for pointing that out to me...LOL
BTW, what body type are you (if you don't mind me asking)...your arms look great!! If only I can achieve definition like that, I am a ECTO...

Hi everyone.

I have a minute while dinner is in the oven. Yesterday, we were suppose to meet SIL and her family at the finish line of the Breast Cancer Walk, but they backed out since the weather was so cold and they were just getting over some respiratory issues. Last year we were wearing shorts for the walk. This year we had snow flurries. We were going to surprise niece at the finish line with her grandparents who had come into town, but we ended up meeting everyone at a restaurant where is was much warmer. She was still surprised, so it all worked out. Then last night we had her bridal shower. We all had a nice time visiting.

Well, I need to get back to cooking. Hope everyone is having a wonderful and Blessed Easter.

Jean

Kara,

I test for my first degree black belt this Saturday (April 14) at 10AM. It was sweet of you to remember. I have been anticipating this date for quite some time. I put it up there with going on the RT. But I must add that the RT will be the best! I will let you know how I do when it is all over!

I am also a cat lover. I have three cats. One is 19 years old (Calico), one is 4 years old (all gray with white paws) her name is Mittens, and then a 2 year old Calico names Cali! I think there are quite a few of us going on the RT that have cats.

I had company all day. This morning I did Step Blast with Weights Circuits (81 minutes). This is one of my favorite circuit workouts. I tend to do mostly circuit training - it just reallly gets me sweating!

Happy Easter everyone!

Cheryl

Sorry I'm just now checking in (better late than never!). Here's what I did last week and what I'm going to do this week (I'm not good about checking in each day, so I'm doing it for the week!). I ate very low carb the past TWO weeks (I won't post the week before last because I can't remember everything!), but I did really well and lost 5 pounds over the past two weeks. One thing I did change up a bit -- I usually try and do HIGH cardio to lose weight, but this time, I did the cardio, but really "upped" my weight training. Here is what I did last week and what I'm planning for this week:
]
Last Week:

Sunday - Kick Punch and Crunch - Gym Style Chest and Triceps
Monday - Step Blast - Gym Style Back Shoulder and Biceps
Tuesday - Drill Max (Lower Body Premix) and Gym Style Lower Body
Wednesday - Cardio Kicks - Gym Style Chest and Triceps
Thursday - Cardio Fusion - Gym Style Back, Shoulder and Biceps
Friday - Low Impact Circuit (lower body premix) - Gym Style Lower Body
Saturday - Pilates or rest day

Sunday - Kick Max - Gym Style Chest and Triceps
Monday - Rhythmic Step - Gym Style Back Shoulder and Biceps
Tuesday - CTX Power Circuit - Gym Style Lower Body
Wednesday - Kick Punch and Crunch - Gym Style Chest and Triceps
Thursday - Cardio Fusion - Gym Style Back, Shoulder and Biceps
Friday - Body Max 1 (step and circuits but no arms) Gym Style Legs
Saturday - Pilates or rest

Last year, this helped me get over a weight loss plateau -- I think the combination of heavy weights and cardio helped. I'm going on vacation again April 26th and was hoping to be back where I was last year at this time! We'll see!
