Review of Chest and Back Ab Ripper X - P90X

This was the first workout I did in P90X. I really enjoyed it and thought it got the job done. My husband was still in the process of jimmy rigging my pullup bar, so i used the bands and LOVED the burning sensation I got. I might alternate one round band and one round pullupbar when he gets it finished.

Difficulty: 10 - Those pushups are KILLER! My chest and core were screaming at me to stop, but it felt good, I enjoyed the diamond pushups even if on the knees.

Choreography: Basic. Nothing tricky here, just gettin busy. I played with my weights on the first round and the second was able to drive it home

Overall: i will be using this workout frequently even after the 90 days rotation is done.

*(**** my gut instinct tells me the weight workouts will be great, but the cardio may not be up to par to Cathe's......i just love her cardio!

Ab Ripper X - was quick - not bad - I prefer Cathe's Core Max workouts because she uses the stability ball. Just personal preference.

Just to add - - from now on I probably will use Cathe's core max instead. I just felt it was more thorough and much more fun and tough......

Sorry I posted this incorrectly in the other topics board before.....

"Ab Ripper X-not bad-"

Wow, you are the man! I assume if it's not bad for you then you were able to bang out each of those exercises with proper form (in many cases feet off the floor and arms in the air)completing 25 reps?

In some cases I think Cathe's workouts are more "fun" and difinitely female oriented but I would never call Ab Ripper X "not bad". When you look at those extremely ripped athletes at the end of that routine, I don't think there's a dry body there.

I feel Ab Ripper X for days all around my core where I rarely, if ever, felt this way with Core Max or any of Cathe's Abs.

In my opinion, it's INTENSE!

I agree with schwarz completely...I think Ab RipperX is very intense and it got me great results doing it 3 times a week. Cathe's abs & core are definitely more fun...:)

I got the best results in my abs EVER doing ARX. The Coremaxes are great, and probably more fun, but ARX worked my abs like nothing else has.

hmmm interesting. I will have to check my form - but I taught pilates up until this year, so my form shouldn't have been the problem - (but ya never know) - - )

I am not saying it didn't work, but I have had workouts that have done the job better...

I think Cathe's pike move on the ball works my overall core much more intensely then some of the moves :)

Not to mention I love love doing "teasers" - - and those build quite a bit of strength in the abs. . . .

I will continue to use it for the rotation. Who knows maybe it will be harder the second round :) Sometimes I think that is very true bc you know what is coming and can really put your all into it....

** EDITED FOR TYPO **

I have lots of room to grow with Ab Ripper X. I think that Core Max is a great workout, however I feel as though I have mastered most all of the moves presented in it. With Ab Ripper X I still have room to grow. For example, on the Mason Twists, I am not even close to straightening my legs as the cute dancer guy does. In the Leg climbs you can go straight to the toe AND bring the foot on the floor all the way up to your bum. I have never gotten the results that I am experiencing from Ab Ripper X. My husband has been poking my lower abs and saying he is amazed how hard they are. I am developing definition that is actually visable like I have never seen. I am in Week 4 / Phase 1 -- can't wait to see my abs in Week 13!

Ugh, please, I have so much room to grow in ARX! My goal is first to try to get all the reps for each exercise and then to do them in the more difficult poses. Right now I modify some exercises so completely that I look like I'm doing a different workout. :)

However, I will say that I will probably swap out ARX with something else once a week to stave off the boredom factor. I have a feeling I'll get sick of it too quickly otherwise. (Note to self: work on attention span of a gnat.)

I'm on round 2 of this and (in conjunction with diet) am getting my best abs ever. I've got the start of a 4 pack really coming on now!

After round 2 I'm FINALLY able to do chinups!! WOO HOO! This is huge! Today I did 10 unassisted. I start with the chair but just for the first!

Hi Shelly! How are you! Posy, Dave, Skeels and I are bringing it for round 2! I'm doing a Turbo Jam double! I'll let you know how it goes!

Great workout - looking forward to seeing the other reviews. My Faves are SA and BB and CST and CB and KenpoX and LB and PlyoX and YogaX.

Have a great day everyone

Re the boredom factor it's great to use music and cues just cues and play your own music I do that on ARX and LB, which we do A LOT!
