Review of Barrys Bootcamp Butt and Legs

I can say I actually really enjoyed this one. I found it effective and efficient in the amount of time she has you work on the legs.

It sort of reminded me of some of the leg exercises chosen for P90X because you really don't use a lot of weight when doing lunges and reverse legged lunges off the bench ( I would have called them one legged lunges off the bench but whatever )

I found the squat jumping jacks to be very effective in creating that burn burn burn! That was great :)

The cardio portion on this one was great for working the legs as well ( imo ) - lunges off the bench and back on - pushups - running lunges while hands on bench - airborn jacks for one mins cycles - skaters lunges - high jogs -

All of that really got my heartrate going and my legs were tired by the time I was done.

Excellent workout overall - ) and I liked that I didn't have to use super heavy weights to get a good burn -

Thanks for posting your reviews of these! I'll hopefully be able to work some of them into Cathe's heavy rotation this month, maybe for bonus burn }( }(

I actually think this butt and legs would be a good addition to a heavy rotation...

I am doing the Total Body tonight which uses body weight only?? Interesting.......which would be a nice addl workout when using heavy weights too - we will see what I think later tonight.......

I did this one on Saturday and I liked it, too.

My legs were shaking during the weight work (my legs never shake). My quads were sore the next day (my quads never get sore). The squat jumping jacks and airborn jacks were killers. Can't wait to do this one again.

Sue: I agree, my quads and even back of my legs are sore - must be those squat jumping jack things!!!

I definitely liked this one and will be using it quite a bit! Maybe with an add on of Cathe floor work would be perfection!

I did this one this morning and I really liked it. Nadia is cute and has a nice personality. My one complaint was that the count seemed to vary, which was slightly distracting, but I will get over it.

I think this once and Butts & Guts in one week would be killer!

I started BBC again this week. I did Butt and Legs today. I only used 8's, 10's, and 12's. I did the non-treadmill cardio first. I used the bosu for a lot of the plyo's involving the step. Nadia's counting gets on my nerves but it is an effective and time efficient workout that gives a good little burn.

Yesterday, I did Arms & Abs (again, I did the non-treadmill cardio first). The cardio on this one SLAYS me. I'm only 8 minutes into the workout and as I gasp for air I have to tell myself that yes I can make it through the remaining 12 minutes of cardio!

I am a big BBC fan!

ITA, Angela! I did this cardio in the beginning of the week and thought I'd die!:7

I did Shoulders and Back y'day and that non-TM cardio isn't as bad but I already had sore calves....NOT FUN!:p

I am probably doing Butt and Legs today. I remember this one is KILLER...not doing the cardio though as I am opting to go for a run afterwards instead. Thank goodness!;) LOL

Tee hee...I know this cardio is hard when I've only gone 8 minutes and I'm thinking how will I make it through 12 min. more???!!! Even with an Imax I will usually have thoughts like, "Oh goodie this is my favorite interval!" or "Yea, I love this song!" or during other cardio's, "I have 50 more minutes, I just love this workout!" But some of the non-treadmill cardio portions of BBC I have to mentally prepare and tell myself that I can get through all 18 minues! Enjoy your run!
Angela

I totally agree! The non TM cardio is killer! I always have to be saying "suck it up" its only about 25 mins of your life! It definitely adds to the overall difficulty of the series....

I think by themselves the weight workouts would be an upper intermediate level of difficulty overall ( well maybe I just need to increase my weights ) but when you add the non TM cardio - it kicks it up to advanced for the full hour :) IMO

I have some good DOMS in my quads this morning.
Didn't get to the Cardio portion, my knees gave out at the end, where she has you doing the jumping jack thingys... :)

I do have to say, that's a h*ll of a warm-up...That got my HR up there.

I am going to start a rotation next week. How is everyone rotating them?

I followed Butt and Legs weight portion up with ITread n Tush at the gym this morning! Talk about YEOWZAS!}(

My rotation of BBC for this week was:

M: BBC arms and abs including cardio
T: Run
W: BBC shoulders and back including cardio + other ab work
R: BBC butt and legs weight work only + Itread n Tush
F: BBC chest n abs including cardio

I won't have a chance to do the full body work out this week as I am going away for the weekend but hope to get in one 30 minute run while I am gone. :)

Jennifer -

I agree. That warmup is TOUGH and not my idea of what a warmup should be. I'm thinking of reducing the number of risers from 4 to 2 or 3. . .

Sue

I use 3 on that warm up cause it's all I have and it's STILL uber tough! Perhaps I will bring it down to 2 next time!}(
