Resveratrol

I use this as my reason to drink red wine.:p

Seriously, though. I usually drink a glass of red wine each evening, and I feel great. I feel like something is wrong if I don't get a glass.

I used to take it as a supplement, but when my supply ran out, I opted for adding red grapes to my diet every week. I'm not sure how much I'm really getting or how effective it is, but I'm on a mission to get all of my daily requirements from food, and I figure grapes can't be bad for you. :) Plus I don't drink wine.

There was a segment about it on 60 minutes a while back. If I remember correctly to get enough of it from red wine alone you would have to drink a ridiculous amount. I think the scientists they interviewed were working on a synthetic form of it.

Oh and I don't think red grapes contain it at all. Something to do with the fermentation process.

It's in the grape skin. :) How much one gets via the skin...who knows. In any case, I'm never going to start drinking wine, so hopefully the whole grape will suffice.

Ahhhhhhh, Resveratrol, my NEW BEST FRIEND!!!!! :D:D:D I've been taking it for a little over a week now and my energy has already increased. Now here's the affect that you guys are going to love but I still have to test it a little more to be sure that it's the Resveratrol that's actually doing it - I think I have lost a little weight since taking it. There could be one other factor that changed for me at the same I started taking it that could be contributing to some weight loss as well but I will know which one fairly soon but weight loss is stated as one of its benefits. There are a couple of other subtle changes that are possibly occurring but I want to give it more time before I know for sure.

I have to give you a little history on me. I've been dealing with many health issues for way too many years. I also have a VERY sensitive system so my body doesn't tolerate or get benefits from the truly wonderful supplements that I have taken. My body seems to really enjoy the Resveratrol. It's only been a week and I hope I continue to see more amazing benefits but so far, I highly recommend it. Unfortunately I haven't done enough research on it to make sure I'm getting the best quality product. The one I'm using is made by a very reputable company so I trust the company but I just don't have enough knowledge yet to know what to look for, however, so far, so good. Plus, I like white wine anyway! :p I say go for it!

HTH!

What kind are you using?? I want to buy some!

The brand I'm currently using is Integrative Therapeutics, however, they are the same makers of Enzymatic Therapy Resveratrol Forte which is considerably cheaper. Enzymatic Therapy is a great company and I will be purchasing their brand when I'm finished with what I'm using. I purchase many of my vitamins from webvitamins as they generally have the best prices on the block. They are a mail order company and you do have to pay for shipping but if you need other things, you can save quite a few bucks. Here's the direct link to the Resveratrol on their website.

Please post about your results if you start taking it. Good luck!

Thanks!! I do drink a glass of red wine several days out of the week. Do you think that it would be OK to take this AND drink a glass of red wine? I don't think a glass of red wine has that much resveratrol in it, so I doubt it will hurt. Also, do you worry about taking something that isn't FDA approved? I used to not worry about that, but the older i get, the more I worry about it.

Stephanie, there should not be any conflict with drinking the wine. In fact, I believe 2 capsules is equivalent to 42 glasses of wine so you're not getting enough in drinking it to be too much.......but it would sure be fun trying, don't ya think??? ;):D

As far as the FDA goes, don't even get me started on them. They've approved pharmaceuticals that have killed many people so they don't hold a heck of a lot of credence in my book.

Well, if you've tried it and haven't experienced any side effects, I'm game! Especially if it gives you energy AND helps in weight loss. I have an infant and need all the help I can get!! :) Thanks for the info!!

Well, I want to share what's going on with me with the Resveratrol. As I mentioned previously, I have a very sensitive system. I have been seeing some nice results, however, I now think I am reacting to an ingredient in the brand that I am currently using, but that's just me and my lovely body. A friend of mine is taking the exact same product and he's doing fine. All the brands that I have looked at (and there are still plenty more out there) add at least one other ingredient. Since my body keeps reminding me of its sensitivities, I have to pay special mind of additional ingredients. I really want to be perfectly clear on one thing. This is how MY body reacts and you can not base taking this product on my own sensitivities. For me, I will be looking for another Resveratrol brand but there are many people that the one I was taking is working great for and I was one of them initially. Based on the current findings, I think this is an amazing supplement and I can't wait to find the brand that my body loves!

I posted this not to discourage anyone but just to follow through on my first post about it. I want to be honest and let you know my experiences since sharing is what these boards are all about.
