resume help!

As I sit here trying to update my resume, I'm stuck. I've gotten over the old-school idea of a one page resume, because no matter how hard I try, I can't get it all on one page. I do however, have 2 questions.

At my age (32) can I leave education off? It hits at the top of the 2nd page and it looks silly in that spot. I've only got high school and 2 yrs of college which doesn't relate to my current job. Not like I'm a PhD or anything :p

I've held 3 major jobs, the current and the last one I put the full info, the 3rd waaaaaay back in the day, just put the dates an position. It doesn't relate to my current or previous job (it was my 1st real job) and just seems to take up extra space which flows onto a 2nd page.

Help!

Nan,

I'd say you could leave off high school, unless it is local and might create a personal connection with the prospective employer. Definitely keep the 2 years of college -- that is very valuable.

You could probably leave off the first job too.

May I ask how you plan to distribute your resume? Will you be using it for specific job interviews or are you planning to do a mass distribution? I receive resumes by fax every day, and frankly, they go right into the trash without my reading them. I just wanted to mention it because I feel bad for people who are wasting their time and money on that service. They'd be much more effective delivering it in person.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck in your pursuit.:)

I'm still working so I'm not blindly tossing them out. I'm checking out Monster and Career Builder and such. Just sick and tired of all the BS and new hoos-foos policies at work. I've also been driving an hour back and forth to work for the last 11 years. Why oh why can't I find a job close to home?? So, it's not an urgent look, but a see what's out there and what I find look. No blind faxes here.
