Results to share after only 1 week of new rotation.

I had mainly been doing the Firm over the last year. I also turned 40 last November. From that time until a couple of weeks ago my results were the following - I gained a whopping 9 pounds, lost a lot of muscle tone, and developed love handles that I never had before.

Good news. Last week I decided to COMPLETELY change my focus of working out. Here is what I've done for the past week.

Thursday - Pyramid Upper Body
Friday - Pyramid Lower Body
Saturday - Always a rest day.
Sunday - Pyramid Upper Body
Monday - Pyramid Lower Body plus a 1 mile walk
Tuesday - Pyramid Upper Body
Wednesday - Pyramid Lower Body plus a 1-1/2 mile walk and 1/4 mile jog (just starting with the jogging)
Thursday - Rest Day
Friday - Walked for 1-1/2 miles (didn't have time for my weight work, but had planned doing Muscle Endurance)

I have also gone from the 14" Fanny Lifter to a 12" homemade topper used on my risers. My diet has changed very little at just a smaller evening meal some nights and very little soda. That's it.

My results - I lost 3 pounds, 3/4 inch in my waist, 1/2 inch in my hips, and 1/2 inch in my thighs. Is that amazing or what. I'm so excited. I'm going to continue the above rotation until I receive Cathe's new DVDs or until I get bored with the same weight work. For the 3 cardio days I'll be starting the Couch Potato to 5K walking/running program that someone suggested starting on Monday.

Sorry so long, but I'm excited that the measuring tape and the scales finally moved.

Hi Kelley, congratulations! Weights really do help whittle away the fat. And the pyramid workouts are great, they build strength and endurance. I use the Fanny Lifter here at home. Now that you use a 12" step, can you say it has made a difference? I bought the Fanny Lifter when I saw the Firm's infomercial, but I disliked the tapes very much. I still use the FL because I spent a lot of $$ on it. But if you can see a big difference with a lower height, I just might consider getting a high step when I have enough moolah saved. :)

Good luck on your program,
Pinky

Hi Pinky, I have noticed a difference using only 12", but I'm only 5' so that maybe why. With the 12", I can focus more on my lifting than worrying about balancing. With the 14" I was starting to feel it more in the front of my legs and around my knees once I started tiring which was probably due to bad form. With the 12" I don't tire near as quickly and have had no pain in the front or around my knees. I'm feeling it more in the buttocks which is where I should feel it.

Hello Kelley,

CONGRATULATIONS on you weight loss!!! :) :)

What will your rotation look like with 3 days being devoted to cardio? I'm asking because I am planning a rotation of Power Walking on M-W-F and Sculpting on T-T-S.

Thanks for any recommendations!

Hi XenaFan, I don't know how to do links, so go to Coolrunnings.com, click on New Runners on the left side of the page, and scroll down to The Couch to 5K Running Plan. I'm going to follow this for my cardio for the next 9 weeks. I'm not a runner, so I'm not going to move from one week to the next unless I feel comfortable. I'll do this 3 days per week and weight training 4-5 days per week depending on how my body responds. I may need more rest since I'm starting the running program. I'm going to stick with the Pyramid workouts until I either get bored with them or until Cathe's DVDs are ready whichever comes first.

Thanks for the www.coolrunning.com link. I had forgotten about the couch potato to 5K workout. I've just been getting back into running and just do my workouts organically: when HR gets too high, I walk until I feel ready to go again. So I'm ready for about week three or four.

Maybe we should have a couch potato challenge?

That sounds good Gretchen. I was actually going to do a check in at the Firm site, but I rarely go there anymore and I'll probably cancel my membership. I definitely don't need to pay for something I can get here for free and I haven't done a Firm workout in 2 weeks. I'm sure I'll have to throw one in once in a while, but so far this is working for me and I need to stick with it.

Kelley,

Wow! Those results are amazing! Keep it up! I too have seen wonderful results with the pyramids and all of the Intensity Series. Cathe is great.

Keep up the running too!

Congrats!! :7

Hi Kelley, thanks for responding. I myself am petite so it might be a good idea to switch to a lower height. With the FL, I also feel it in my quads and around my knees. I'm going to search the house for something that's 12" high and also supports my weight. Let me see if that makes a difference. I just might get the high step if it does. Thanks again.

Pinky:)
