Resting HeartRate??

Hi All -

I'm hoping to gain some perspective from everyone here.

I thought I had read once about symptoms/signs of overtraining being a decreased resting heart rate. I don't necessarily think I'm overtraining, however yesterday I was super tired and low on energy, and for whatever reason checked my pulse. I know a true "resting heartrate" should be taken first thing in the morning, however is it 'okay' that yesterday afternoon my pulse was averaging between 48-52 bpm? I know a lower resting heart rate is a sign of a good fitness level, but is that too low?

Hoping you guys can help :)

Thanks,
Nicole

Hi Nicole,

I became a certified personal trainer last year and if I recall, when overtraining your RHR actually increases. In fact, I am sure this is true because it happened to me. I was overtraining and my RHR increased when taking it before I got out of bed. I don't think 48-52 bpm is too low. I think it's great! Just my opinion. Hope this helps!

Thanks Sherry ...

I just wanted to make sure that my RHR wasn't too low. I would think there would come a point where it drops to the point of warranting a health concern.

Glad to know that it's at a healthy range.
