Cathe,

How important is it to take a day "off" from working out? I work out 7 days a week for at least an hour and half. I am going to start taking Sunday off, but I am concerned about weight gain. Can you please give me some info on this.

bumping.
I work out like crazy too and sometimes need to be reminded of what rest days acutally do for you. Thanks to Cathe and anyone else in advance on any advice on this.

Thanks

Hi I am not Cathe but I am a certified personal trainer and exercise instructor. To answer your question about rest, it is extremely important to take at least one day off a week and maybe about a week off once every month or two. It gives your body the rest it needs to recover properly for the next workout. It takes roughly two days or so (I'd have to look back for the exact amount of time) to fully restore the glycogen your muscles need to perform at its best. by not resting you are highly likely to over train, which may cause problems you don't want such as not making any further gains, you could also go backwards and gain weight instead of losing. I could go on but I hope you get the idea and take at least one day off a week? You may also feel leaner from taking the time off!!!!:) :D
