I am sooo embarrased. 'I have a relative that owns a golf course. Loaded ok.
Well his son is not very good at basketball. He is slow.....
The parents and grandparents were flipping out because he didn't get to play enough.
Grandpap got permanently kicked out of the YMCA for fighting with the coach and Dad is sueing the coach for horrassment for screaming at the boy and supposedly grabbing his arm.
Don't you usually have to scream in a gymnasium????
The coach for sports for over 600 kids was suspended.....
And he volunteered...
It p**ses me off.
I know the spoiled brat just didn't get his own way and was not the center of attention so they are crying.
And the shame is....
They will probably win, because they have money.
What is next, my son didn't make the major leagues so i am sueing...
Or my son's Jo* strap scraped him and i am sueing...
Related or not they are jerks.

Why do people with money think they are better or their kids are better...

This is too sad. As a volunteer coach, the hardest part of the job is working with parents like this. Although I coach in rec leagues where I make sure every player gets equal playing time, so it is also sad if the kid did not get much playing time.

The kids make it worth it, but every year there is at least one parent who makes life a little difficult. Part of the job.

Ugh! Those people have to get a grip! The difference between today's generation is they have no character because of parents like that. Not making the team, or getting to play inspires one to either try harder or accept that they aren't good at something and move on to find things they can accell at. This builds character and a strong sense of self. Todays young generation are in trouble.

Anne,

That is terrible. You have no reason to feel embarassed as it's not your fault, but I do understand what you mean about family members being jerks. Don't know if it will help, but I can share my current family story that has me very embarrassed and torn about what to do.

My younger brother has for a year now been faking a neck/back injury, and the poor company that made the mistake of hiring him as been shelling out big money for a year. Meanwhile, my brother has been fishing and just goofing off. I have been so torn. I know it's wrong, and I really want to report him to someone. If I do, I know my Mom would be livid with ME. He lives with my Mom and she is well aware of what he is doing. I've tried reasoning with my brother and I'm just stunned by his attitude. I don't even know who he is anymore.

It's really difficult when it's your family, isn't it?

Hi...I'll never understand how some adults are! I've been in sports my whole life and coached a little....some parents are just the worst. No example to give to kids. I got out of coaching, mostly because of parents. I've been yelled at by coach's, I've been on some teams were I didn't play much....I remember my parents saying "continue to work hard to prove your spot on the team." Yes, you may have some disappoints, but that's life...deal with it.
But suing a volunteer....I think most reseasonable people will see that it doesn't reflect you! Some adults never seem to act like adults, and try other means of working things out first.
Don't worry.... Completely understand!
