Reinjuring my plantaris

Cathe:

I've been following your plantaris injury intensely... I want to ask you if you have reinjured it ever?? I injured it (very painful!!) doing step many, many months ago. I laid off of doing step for quite awhile and finally was able to do step again. But recently I injure it every time I try to do step! This is even after I have laid off for a month or more and have no more pain in the plantaris. Have you experienced continued plantaris injuries with step workouts?? Any advice if you have been able to avoid that??

In the meantime, I'm doing lots of weights and kickboxing.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Hey Charlotte, I am not Cathe but I have injured my plantaris and had to give up step for over a year in order to heal. Now I can do step a maximum of 2 times per week. The rest of my cardio is hilo, kickbox and cycle classes. I cross train and do not do too much of any one thing since I tend to experience a "flare up" every time I go back to too much step or impact. I also do not do alot of power or hop types of moves and try not to step too fast (over 130 bpms) when I do the step classes.

Don't know if this will help you but you may not be waiting long enough for your injury to heal even though it may feel better at the time? Oh and I am sure that you do enough stretching but I have found that yoga helps with elongating the leg muscles and I try to do yoga at least once to 3 times or more per week.

Thanks for your reply! At least now I know that it may be not enough healing time. That helps alot. I did about 5 minutes of one of Cathe's step tapes a few weeks ago and started feeling a little grief so I stopped right away. Bummer! I'll just have to be patient.
