? regarding HIIT vs Steady state cardio re: cals burned

If I burn the same amount of calories doing 1 hour of Imax 2 as I do with 1 hour of Rhythmic Step, what is the benefit of adding HIIT to my rotation?

It seem like no matter what workout I'm doing, whether it's HIIT, steady state or circuit, I burn the same amount of calories in the same amount of time.

Any input would be appreciated!!

Hi Melissa,

I believe the calorie burning effects of HIIT last for some time after the workout as well.

Looking beyond the calorie perspective, I found that reglurly adding HIIT to my cardio regimen gave me a lot more cardiovascular endurance in general.
 
I found that steady state got easier--not as winded, more fun, etc. after I added the HIIT, so I definitely agree with the aerobic endurance argument.:)
