Reebok or Original Club Step
I have access to both and strongly prefer the step Cathe uses in her workouts. That is the one I bought. The Reebok step is hard as a rock with no “give” to it. It is shorter and narrower, which makes it less comfortable to use as a weight bench. The smooth honeycomb surface is slippery when you sweat on it. You are also limited to 6", 8", or 10" heights. As far as I know, the only advantage is that the risers snap into place to make it easier to carry as a single unit. In my experience, they wear out eventually and fall off when you pick up the step anyway. I hate the Reebok step so much that if I ever do another live class at the club, I will likely take my own step with me. I have a home-size step that I bought before I upgraded to the club-size step, and I am keeping it for that very reason.
The original club step has some “give” to it that cushions some of the impact. My knees never hurt after doing Cathe’s step workouts even with all the power moves. I love having the option of using the 4" step with no risers. This is a tremendous blessing when learning complex choreography and is perfect for me in general with most of Cathe’s workouts. You can also buy the high step topper to use with the risers, so the club step is much more versatile. It is much better as an incline bench too, and the larger stepping surface works better with Cathe’s choreography in my opinion.
Cathe sells the original club step now with or without DVD value packs. I highly recommend the gray step with black risers. It is much more attractive than the old version.
