Recommendations for digital camera

EricaH

Cathlete
I want to get a digital camera and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations or suggestions on what to look for. I need something easy to use and reasonably priced. I'll be using it to take family pictures.

TIA!

Erica,

It really depends on many things...

What quality do you need? Megapixels...the higher the number the better the quality

Do you need zoom?

What is your price range?

I just bought three higher end (299.99) cameras for work.

Most cameras come with hundreds of features which nobody uses; most are very friendly now. If you have a computer with USB hookup, then you will be fine. Trust me...I bought a Fuji kit for my dad and he is anti-tech. He was taking pictures in one day.

Hope this helps!

Melissa,

Would 5 megapixels be enough? I thought that I would need 6, but DH has been looking at cameras with 5. I do want zoom and was thinking of spending around $200. DH wants to spend less.:p

Erica,

Around $200 might be tough for 5 megapixels with zoom but with the internet, I am sure that you will find it. 5 megapixels is great. You will be able to make pictures bigger (stretch them) without losing quality when you go to a higher megapixel camera like a 5. Some of my best deals were found at Walmart. I know...I HATE Walmart but gosh darn they do have good deals.

Hope this helps!

Melissa, thank you so much! This gives me a great place to start - or I may end up just getting the Kodak easyshare.

Thanks again - I appreciate your help.

Just got a Cannon PowerShot SD600. it was a gift, so you'd have to check it out on a website to get the specs, but I love it. It is the size of a pack of cards and has all the bells and whistles!
