Rebounding

Greetings Everybody

I would like your opinions on rebounding. My rebounder is collecting dust in storage and my bones need a little rest from all of the the high impact.I have about 90% of Cathes Video's, including Low Max and have ordered her new workouts being filmed as we speak.

Can you get an advanced workout with a rebounder? Has anybody worn their Heart Rate Monitors doing any the rebounder workouts? Can light hand weights be used with these workouts to increase their effectiveness?

Have a great exercise day. :)

You can definitely get an advanced workout with a rebounder. I use the rebounder for Cardio Coach workouts (guided interval workouts on CD that are meant to be used with equipment like stationary bikes, eliptical trainers and treadmills). Doing running and sprints on the rebounder can get your heart rate near the anaerobic zone. Jacks and tuck jumps can also be intense.

You can also use light hand weights (stay light, though, because the G-force created by rebounding makes the weight ' feel' much heavier to the body on the ' downstroke'). I often wear weighted gloves (1# or 2# when I rebound: 1# if I plan to do more complex arm movements, 2# with just running, jogging and sprinting for CC).

You can even take some of Cathe's high impact moves like in MIC or KM to the rebounder (with modifications as necessary to fit the surface area of the rebounder).

Also, the surface of the rebounder can be used as a slightly unstable surface for adding some core and stability challenge to standing weight work (lighter than usual weights) or as a surface for doing ab work.
