Rebounding

I try to do a search on something before I post about it. But on this I came up w/ different responses. One lady says it wasn't very good for weight loss but that she used it for "cellular" reasons. What does that mean? Another poster said that it was great for cardio. Nowhere have I seen how much weight it can handle. I weigh 200# . I never knew what rebounding was until a dvd called " Urban Rebounding Compilation 3" popped up in my local used book store. I was looking at the back and thoguht "this will prolong the life of my joints". I bought it, went home and watched it. It turned out to have 4 different workouts on it. Kick Bound, Interval Bounding, Old Fashioned Hi-Low Bound and Latin Bound. I have no idea if I can keep up w/ them , but wanted to know your input. Someone also posted that their heart wen tup into the 180's. My heart rate at 60% should be 111 and at 80% no more than 148. Isn't going over 80% where you start to harm your body and not help it? Any info would be welcome. Also, how many legs should it have? Springs?

Rebounding is my favorite cardio! You can work as hard as you want, (or don't want) on the rebounder, and it is easy on the joints. I have several of the urban rebounding videos, but I prefer to just put on music and do my own thing.

You will need to get a good rebounder, not the ones that are sold in sporting good stores for $20. We have had a few of those here. I bought them for my kids (one of my sons will jump on that thing all day!). He does fine weighing less than 80 pounds, but as soon as I started using those rebounders the springs broke.

Next I bought a rebounder off ebay. This one was supposed to be just like a Needak. It is well built and will handle a lot of weight but the bounce is soft. Then I tried out an urban rebounder which has a much firmer bounce and liked that much better. I gave my son the ebay one (for the one I broke of his) and bought an urban rebounder for myself. Now we have a lifetime's worth of rebounders in my house :)
The point of this long story is get a good rebounder, the cheap ones are a waste of money unless you weigh 50 pounds. If possible, see what a soft bounce vs firm bounce is like and which you prefer.

As far as heart rate, most professionals are going by "perceived exertion". Listen to your body, you will know if you're working too hard.
