Hi Cathy,
I have a question. I have been an instructor for 7 years (LOVE your videos )and am certified by AFAA.
I recently had a very strange experience in one of my cardio interval classes. I teach @ 128 beats and my students are on one to two risers (conditioned steppers only). New students arrived 25 minutes late (have never seen them before) and proceeded to demamd to do the class on three risers. I did not feel that this was safe considering the 128 bpms I teach at and their knees were definetly passed 90 degrees and 60 degrees. I unfortunately I had to ask them to leave since they were very disruptive to the class and would not listen to me.
I checked the step reebok guidelines and they allow 3 risers @ 122 bpms. I have always been taught that @ 3 risers the students would not be able to safely complete the moves.
Thanks for your help!
On a side note:
I hope that you are recovering nicely. I have found your videos to be the best in industry and I had great success with them during my illness. My specialists were amazed how my lungs could function so well considering the damage caused by my autoimmune disease and I could still teach aerobices. Also, your strenght training videos helped keep my bone density loss to a very low level.
Take care and I appreciate any input that you have!
Have a wonderful Memorial day weekend!
