Hi Everyone,
I know I'm going to get alot of heat for asking this question but i'm going to give it a shot,Here it goes

I am part of a bridal party and the wedding is in JUNE I need to lose at least 10lbs. I know I'm not supposed to lose weight so quick because I can gain it just as easy, but I was wondering if just from here to then if anyone knows of a diet or exercise regimen that will work for quick results.(ONLY FOR A LIMITED TIME,I PROMISE)
THANK YOU,
MARISOL

weight loss

Hi Marisol,
I would advise against losing too much, too fast - if you lose more than one or two pounds per week, you will be losing muscle along with fat and decrease your metabolism. When you go back to eating normally, your weight will come right back. Obviously, following a low-fat, low-calorie healthy diet along with regular exercise is your best bet. (easy to say - I should follow my own advice!)
Good luck!

Marisol, no flack from me . . .

I see the best results from this routine:

cardio 4 times weekly

strength 3 times weekly

good diet throughout the day & no skimping on calories! I consume about 1800 quality cals a day. However, & here's the catch: I DON'T EAT ANYTHING AFTER 5:00pm!

And don't forget the H2O! When I make a point of consuming at least 80 ozs of H2O a day, it makes a huge difference in everything -- regularity, my complexion, better workouts.

When I follow this routine without exception, I can drop 1.5 pounds a week. The only thing I can't provide for you is the discipline to do it. Come 9:00pm when I settle down in front of the tube & my tummy's growling, those chips that my skinny, dh is eating are sure tempting!

Lezly!

Great plan! Wow, I give you an A !! What commitment that must take not to eat after 5:00. I bet it does make a difference. I know that a lot of my problem is that we cannot eat dinner (unless I want to eat alone!) til after 6:30-7:00 most nights & two nights a week, after 8:30 due to my hubby's schedule. I bet it would make a difference not going to bed with that food still sitting in my stomach! I did make a New Year's Resolution to drink at least 64* of water per day and I'm surprised how easy it has been.(I may have to up that to 80*!!) GREAT ADVICE!!

Lezly's plan sounds good

Although 1800 cals is more like maintenance for me (I've got the world's slowest metabolism--but then, I'm 53), it's important not to under-eat. You can probably find a website where you can calculate the appropriate calorie intake for your goal weight, with your age and activity level taken into consideration.

Do not starve yourself. Better to spread out your total calories through the day with small meals and snacks.

I'd also suggest that you make one or two of those cardio days jogging/running, if you can. Running is a very efficient calorie-burner for me. With the weight training, you'll tighten up and make the most of the fat loss as well. You might be very pleasantly surprised at the end of four weeks!

Strength split into two routines

I've split my strength routine into two seperate workouts. One covers legs, chest, shoulders & triceps. The second covers legs, back & biceps. So one week the first workout gets done twice & the next week it gets done once & the second one gets done twice.

I'm still working on consistency with my strength workout, and this is working really well for me in terms of time, and also I'm not so whipped at the end of the workout.

Another little thing I changed was adding my ab work to my evening "get ready for bed" routine. I wash my face, floss my teeth & then do my abs. I find I'm getting them worked out more consistently than if I do them with my regular workout during the day. I hate ab work & since it was at the end of my workout I would blow it off alot cuz I was tired or pressed for time.

Ab work

Hi Lezly,
I'm curious to know exactly how many reps of ab work do you do?
And are you getting results from this routine?
The reason why I ask is because I too find myself skipping ab work or finding it such a struggle to do it during my regular workout.

embarrrassed to admit!

It's been 11 months since I discovered VF & Cathe & in all that time I've not done any ab work! Did I say how much I hate ab work?

I'm hoping to make a true BELLY BUSTER commitment this year so hopefully the nighttime routine will stick. I've been doing the before bed ab routine for two weeks now & I'd guess that's about 10 more ab workouts than I've done before!

Since I don't use my Gilad step tape much anymore, I usually have it cued to the ab section & just do it. At this point, any ab work will benefit me!
