1. what causes the increased prominence of veins, especially in the arms?

2. how are dumbell curls different from barbell curls (i.e. in S&H)?

3. should we (my workout buddy and i) incorporate the lying rotator cuff exercise from s&h into other workouts? we were wondering this since this is our last week of s&h and that particular exercise isn't in our next rotation (either endurance or pure strength).

i keep telling her i'm gonna post and ask, so i've finally done it. thanks to anyone in advance.

Hi Cin, obviously not Cathe, but I will try answer some of your questions....

1. The increased prominence of veins comes from increased blood flow to the area you've worked.

2. Dumbbell curls give you more range of motion than the barbell. This is why Cathe will use both in some workouts. Works that bicep in different ways.

3. I HAVE NO CLUE.

Hopefully, someone will jump in here & correct me if I'm wrong about 1 & 2 and give both (all 3 -- you, me & your workout partner) of us an answer!

Hi CinDee:

Working with dumbbells in bicep curls works both arms evenly. This guarantees that the right arm, which is usually the stronger side, is not doing most of the work with the curls.

Rotator cuff -- an instructor on one of the workout TV shows I used to exercise (BC - Before Cathe) said that this part of the body is too often overlooked and should be worked on. So my vote is to go ahead and incorporate rotator cuffs into your regular weight work.

About the veins. Doncha just love 'em?!
