I have tried numerous times in the past to use these programs, but it only lasted about a week. I certainly wish I had the discipline to do this, but I just don't.
I've been finding that sometimes when I INCREASE my calories, I will drop several pounds. I believe that you can't calculate an individual's metabolic rate, and that for me, I do better just to follow a couple of simple guidelines:
*Include 3-4 servings of veggies daily
*Include 2-3 servings of fruit (limit to 1 banana)
*Include a portion of lean protein with every meal
*Include a complex carb (preferably in the form of veggies) with every meal
*Make sure to get the right amount of EFA's (essential fatty acids) - about 1 tsp. 2-3 times a day
*Drink LOADS of water
*Limit the diet soda's
*I can have 1 treat a day (in the form of a 1/2 cup of ice cream, handful of potato chips, etc.) if I REALLY want to.
*I have 1 cheat day - again, if I really want to.
I've found that this works for me, and aside from having 2-3 pounds of fat to lose right now (too many sweets! - I'm more concerned about this because I have high cholesterol and need to keep check), I've been able to maintain my weight this way for just about all my life.
Like I said, I wish I were more disciplined in the diet arena, but I just have never been able to stick with a set routine (fitday, etc.) - I'm thinking that I may benefit from using these programs because of the fact that I may be missing certain nutrients, etc.. I've heard that it really doesn't take a whole heck of a lot of time to input your daily meals when you get used to the program - kudos to those of you who can do this.
But I was wondering how many of us out there just wing it with our diets, and is it working for you?
