Questions about ICE

SRP

Cathlete
I think I should have preordered the whole series ... I have Metabolic Total Body and Low Impact Sweat. LOVE them both. My questions are regarding the weight training. I was afraid to order any weight DVDs because I have so much trouble transitioning and keeping pace because I use awkward lifting hooks.

But I tried the Muscle Meltdowns on the two DVDs that I have. I really liked the back MM - the pace was just right. I had problems with the chest MM, not because of the pace but because of my hands. Anyhow, here are the questions.

Is Chiseled Upper Body at about the same pace as the Back and Chest Muscle Meltdowns? The reviews I've seen indicate that it is a slower pace than Cathe's usual.

It looks like Chiseled Lower Body Blast doesn't use a lot of weights. The clip shows mostly body weight work. How much of a cardio aspect does it have?

Boot Camp Circuit is primarily weights, right? The clip looks that way, and I'm wondering if it's similar in "flavor" to Metabolic Total Body. How much cardio does the main routine have?

Thanks for any advice you can give!

Shannon:

I can't answer all questions because I have not done MMs yet, so comparisons on pace are hard.

As far as Boot Camp Circuit is concerned, think Boot Camp from the Intensity series. BCC follows the exact same format. Each cycle contains for 4 components: 1 min cardio, 1 min lower body, 1 min upper body, 1 min core. I think Metabolic Conditioning is more fun than the BC workout on ICE, but maybe that's me.

Chiseled Lower Body Blast is similar to Xtrain's Cardio Leg Blast (name?) in that it alternates a cardio minute or 30 seconds, cannot remember how long each is, with a weights for lower body minute. I think the clip just isn't representative of the entire workout. So, cardio to weights ratio = 50/50.

Chisleled Upper is slower than usual, it is largely functional fitness moves, not traditional gym moves, using lighter weights. Not a heavy weights workout, although the room to heavy up on both the Chiseled upper and lower is definitely there and many are reporting that this is what they are doing. The screen tells you, ahead of each move, what move is up next and what weight Cathe will use, so you can pause it temporarily to get your hooks around that next weight, no problem.

Thanks a lot, Clare. I appreciate the feedback. It sounds like Chiseled Upper may be a good fit for me. I'm still thinking on the other two. I also remember about JennGolf's 2 Lazy for the Gym blog and checked out her reviews. I kind of think I can handle these, and I covet new workouts. :)

Huh. So much for thinking about those other two. That took all of what - 10 minutes? I just ordered all three!
