Question regarding resting

Hi Cathe (or anyone else)!

Just have a question about resting - I know that you are suppose to rest 48 hours before doing an extreme cardio workout (such as Imax) again. I am wondering, is it ok to do a workout the following day (24 hours later)?
I've always scheduled those workouts so that my day off for the week followed the intense workout, but, wondering if that was necessary. Can I do a weight day or even a less intense cardio workout the day after an interval day?

Christy

Hi Christy,
I say go 4 it. A less intense workout would be fine in that time period. In fact if you find that you can handle another strenuous workout in a shorter time period then do it. We are all different and I think the "48 hr rule" is a general one. Cathe doesn't want to have people dying on her so I am sure that's why that guideline is stated. But if you can handle it, do it.

Hi Christy! It is fine to do a less intense workout the next day if you are feeling up to it. Just listen to your body. If you wake up, roll over, and say "uh, what have I done;-)", and feel every muscle you own as you crawl out of bed, it is a good idea to make that an off day or a light stretch day. If you wake up the day after an interval workout and feel pleasantly tight, a tightness that within 5 minutes of getting up and moving around pretty much disappears, enjoy a non-interval workout that day :)

Thanks Cathe!
Generally I don't feel any discomfort the day after doing any of the IMAX videos. So, I won't be playing it safe anymore. :) I will just listen to my body and discern whether I can handle a non-interval cardio workout that day, or not.

Thanks much!

Christy

Thanks for making the Interval Max videos! I love IMAX 1 & IMAX Extreme - It's great to feel challenged doing an aerobic video!

Hi Cathe!!,
Your smile brightened my day so here's one back at ya!
:)

Speaking of asking yourself how you feel when you get up, I am SO sore this morning after alot of squats yesterday.!! So......a day off for me today!!
Have a good one!
